Description

I'm headed for a workshop this week hosted by our local quilting guild. Darlene Zimmerman will be here and she is going to work with us on her Hummingbird quilt. This is my first quilting workshop so I'm looking forward to learning some new techniques. It was suggested to get '30s prints but I have some beautiful Paparazzi by Red Rooster I've been dying to use so my quilt is going to look quite different.
Sept 9th: Bought fabric for the background and borders; finished cutting out all the strips and packing everything up for the workshop!

Sept 16: If you ever have a chance to go to one of Darlene's workshops, she is a wonderful teacher and a very sweet person. I had the opportunity to give her a ride from her hotel to the workshop and back and made her just a little nervous when I informed her this was my first Quilting Workshop (that wasn't online). I had a great time!

I didn't finish quite as much as I thought (I guess piecing this top takes quite a bit longer) but I finished our assignment! Now I'm on my own ! I really like the black, white and red contrasts.

Thanks! I had been collecting fat quarters of black, reds and whites. This pattern called for 10 fat quarters so it was a no brainer since I really like the look of this color combination. Goes with nothing in my house so this may be a gift . . .

Wow love this and how cool you got to spend time with the teacher!

I like the bold look of these colors! What a great story about your workshop. It is fun to get to know the teacher.
