Description

I made these matching make-up bags for my daughter and her BFF's birthday.

They're nearly inseparable all summer long, and I knew I had to make them a matching set of something. Being teenage girls, a make-up bag was just a natural choice.

I've loved hexies for a long time, seeing them all over blogland it was hard not to. Problem was, I don't do hand-sewn things. So, no EPP for me! A few weeks ago tho, I ran across a blog post about machine stitched hexies, and then a short time later, another post about hand-stitched hexies without the paper! I was in heaven. So, I grabbed some fabric and started some hexies and this is what became of them.

The girls LOVED their matching bags and were thrilled to receive them. Great end to a rocky beginning with hexies!

For those interested, here are the links I mentioned for Non-EPP hexies! :)

Good Luck!

These are beautiful! They're so professional-looking. I love how you customized them even more with the initials. You've inspired me to try working with hexies, myself. :)

AllPatchedUp

Thank you! :)

I hope that your hexie adventure turns out as well as mine did. Good luck!

I "tried" hexies and flunked the class! But after seeing these and reading that you skipped the EPP you have given me hope to try again. The fabric is perfect and I can see why the girls were thrilled. Any chance you can recall what blogs you visited on machine stitched hexies and hexies without the paper?

AllPatchedUp

I shared both links on my blog, will link them up here in a bit for all those that are allergic to EPP like myself. wink2 lol

AllPatchedUp

Updated the description to include the links to the hexies posts I mentioned.

Thanks so much!! I'll definitely be checking them out. Who knows, maybe I can remove the hex over learning hexies!

AllPatchedUp

LOL! I certainly hope so. :)

Love the colors, and the hexies are a fantastic design element. Almost too bad they have to get the insides all messy with cosmetics!

AllPatchedUp

Thanks Sandyquiltz ! Oh I know...it didn't take my daughter long to have it broke in (ie. dirty) lol....she's lucky I love her ;)

Coolcheapashley

These are beautiful! Hexies are definitely on my to-do list.

AllPatchedUp

Thanks Coolcheapashley ! :) Good luck with your hexies when you get to them! :)

AllPatchedUp

Thanks so much Carolmarie ! :) And of course you may pin them! Thanks for asking.

I missed this as well and how adorable and pretty and I bet they loved having them match. Really love the creativity of these...nice job!

AllPatchedUp

Thanks True ! They did indeed love them! And are always happy to 'match' in any way-shape-or-form. lol

Allpatchedup I so remember those days...the calls about what to wear the next day!

AllPatchedUp

My favorite is the day it shows why they are BFF's....the days where they don't coordinate it on purpose but they still end up wearing virtually the same outfit. Either the colors match or the clothes themselves do :)

Mariam

holy cow! Your skills and eye for color are insane! WOW.

AllPatchedUp

Thanks Mariam :)

These are beautiful! I may have to make some more hexies soon! ;-) Do you have a link for the bag pattern? It's such a great shape.

AllPatchedUp

Thanks Terrysim ! :)

I don't have a pattern for the bag, I just made it up as I went, tho I could probably jot down the numbers and details if you'd like. Just let me know. :)
