Description

This quilt is for my son.  He's two.  He is my official quilt inspector and loves to lay on all my finished quilts (and some yet to be finished!) to make sure they work.  ;)

I decided he needed a bigger quilt than the baby quilt I made for him over a year ago, so I dug into my stash and cut some charms from blue, yellow, green, and orange fabric and paired them with a Moda Bella Solids charm pack in snow.  I'm still playing with the layout, because while I wanted it to be random, I struggle with accepting true randomness and I don't want big patches of the same print together...

I will quilt in straight lines on both sides of the seams as well as Xs in the white squares (I think?).

SEPTEMBER 21, 2012:  All (spray) basted and ready to quilt.  The boy chose orange (I gave him a choice of blue, yellow, and oranges spools and he asked for the "orange barrel".  I guess spools of thread do look kind of like barrels LOL).  Added a photo with binding all ready as well.  It's another Nicey Jane print.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2012: Finally finished the quilting, almost done binding, will probably finish in the car tomorrow.

SEPTEMBER 28, 2012:  All done!  The boy loves it and I do too.

This is cute and fun. Love it that your little guy has to "try out" the quilts you make. I know a little guy that also loves the quilts his mom makes(to the point he doesn't want her to give them away)....and playing with her excess fabric. Nothing can be better than having something to cuddle with that was made with love.

Great happy colors you've chosen! Much like the Threadbias theme colors, which I totally love.Your son will be so happy when this is finished. And by the way, I really like the simplicity of this. Call me simple but there you have it. Can't wait to see the finished product and knowing you it will be done by the weekend.

These colors are so fresh looking. Love that your son has to try them all out 'to make sure they work' LOL! You're teaching him to appreciate all your work and handmade goodies! :) I'm the same way about my layouts. I LOVE random....as long as I get to control the random. ahem smirk

Oh your puppy dog kills me. He just has to break in the new smell of a quilt doesn't he!

I think he also has very good taste in choosing the "orage barrel" for the quilting it is perfect!

True Haha I agree! There is no orange at all on the back, so I think he was smart to pick orange! My little quilt prodigy. :P

Kristananne My son is 20 now but he has a real eye for colors and I am always making him come and look at fabric options! He is very nice to humor me but he is usually right on:-)
