Baby Onesie embroidery by Speattle
Embroidery & Embellishments
I hand knit the little baby onesie from a pattern I found free over on Ravelry. The designer suggests putting a purchased applique on the front, but I made my own.
I found a cute little cartoon airplane on for free on the Brother website and put it onto a piece of twill fabric. I then stitched a frame outline around the plane. I cut it out and sewed another piece of the blue onto it right sides together. Since it was being sewn onto the front of the onesie, I cut an opening for turning on the backing piece of fabric and turned it through that. Then I narrow zig-zag stitched it onto the front of the garment.
I sewed it on with my older Elna. I didn't make any particular adjustments to the machine other than setting stitch size. The machine handles knits very nicely, even hand knits.
Earlier in the day I machine sewed snap tape to the crotch opening.
This is being given along with the quilt it is sitting on. Mom works for an airline, so I was happy to find the fabric print and the embroidery image of airplanes.
