Christmas Table Runner Gr/W & Red/W Pinwheels by Azjune
Each year at Christmas, my co-workers and I have a "Girls" party. We do a larger game gift and then a stocking stuffer for each of the girls. This year, for the game gift,I am thinking I might make a quilted table runner with coordinating tree folded napkins.
Even though I have been sewing and doing machine embroidery forever, assembling blocks into a quilted project and then quilting it is still relatively new for me.
So far, I have pieced 10 pinwheel blocks. My plan is to have 2 rows of blocks, alternating green and red blocks. I will sash with the white that is in the blocks and use either the green or the red for the binding. I am not sure if I want to also insert a green sashing strip around the perimeter of the combined blocks. I guess I will figure it out as I go along.
9-30-12 As I was playing with the layout of the Green/White and Red/White blocks, I decided that it was missing something. I made a few Red/Green blocks (new photo uploaded today) that I may use as a center row. Still not sure what the final layout will be, but it is fun seeing what happens along the way.
10-8-12 Over this past week-end, I decided on the layout for this runner. I just uploaded a photo of the blocks stitched together.(the photo with the white jagged outer edge)
11-4-12 The top is completely assembled! As it is, it measures 52" x 25", but I will trim it down after quilting it.
12-9-12 Finished! I actually completed 2 projects today (the other is the smaller version of Christmas Town). As much as I love starting new projects, it feels good to finish a few, too.
On the wall instead of the table.
Blocks stitched together, ready to trim to size.
