Description

This was a first try at using the sotak improv block tutorial.    Photos show wrinkles from storage.  Next time I will avoid so many wedge shapes and stick to more regular rectangles.  The top is done and ready for quilting & binding.  Backing is a light orange and white stripe.  Still love that bird fabric!

16 March 2013. Quilted with a loopy pattern, binding ready to attach. Bound in the blue triangles fabric.

Love the quilting...

Thanks True and Carolmarie ! It's the first time I've quilted a whole quilt in anything but straight-ish line stitching with my walking foot. It felt something like a practice piece, but I'm happy with the result and ready for more practice.

This is gorgeous!!! I love the wedge shapes! :D

Great job on your quilting as well. You did great! :)

Charwirfs

I agree with AllPatchedUp. The birds add the charm, but the wedge shapes bring the power, not to mention a great color choice.

Every quilt you make is Pinned! You have a great eye for color and patterns. And congrats on your 1st FMQ adventure!!

This is beautiful. I'd never seen that method of improv. I also love that bird fabric.
