Description

I saw a picture online somewhere of a quilt which was a similar design to this one.  I vaguely remember getting annoyed with this project, as the solid fabrics stretched, then it managed to work its way down into the UFO pile.

Sometimes it is a case of "As ye sew, sew shall ye rip."  It is one of those times!  I'll be starching the little sucker within an inch of its cottony little life to stop it stretching again.....

It was time to do something drastic.....I've changed the pattern.  Now the garden is so secret even I don't know what it is going to look like!!!

The blocks are almost finished, so it is time to start working on the layout.  I'll draw the block up in EQ, then start flipping and turning.

I added 3/4 of a third round of logs, but ran out of fabric, consulted with Chaos (who doesn't quilt, but after living with me for ten years, gives great advice) and (GASP!  Totally unheard of.) decided not to visit the LQS and get some more fabric and decided instead to unpick......while waiting for Threadbias pages to load.....which made it a painless process!

For inspiration I've used the barn raising layout from my favourite quilting book - The Ultimate Log Cabin Quilt Book by Patricia Cox and Maggi McCormich Gordon.

Love the fabric...:-( about stretching...I love this pattern as well.

Sewnsew

Thank you, True . I've learned the importance of starch since I started this block! lol

Heehee Carolmarie Yep.....it works really well. I tried making my own using corn starch, but found it too wet. Now I'm just glad the cans are cfc free.....Otherwise I'd be forming my own personal hole in the ozone layer above my house!

Janquilter

Very cute design. So sorry you had to deal with stretching. I like the colors you chose.

Sewnsew

Thank you Janquilter . I only have one block partially finished, so it is a simple fix. It is time for it to come back out.....I think it has been punished enough. lol

True

I will look forward to e big reveal...once you know what it is;-)

Sewnsew

True lol Maybe I should call it a mystery quilt!

PiecedByPeace

Quiltdiva Thank you! I'm looking forward to hanging it. I have plenty of the fabric left over and am looking forward to using it for something another quilt.

Sewnsew

I'm even looking forward to finishing it! I got a bit ahead of myself there. lol

OK I just love these blocks and fabrics and cannot wait to see what you create with them!

Cinda

Ditto on all these comments. These blocks look wonderful, I love the colors and the main fabric, and can't wait to see where this will go!

Cinda True Thank you both for your lovely comments! I can't wait to see where it goes, too, Cinda. The quilt is making itself as it goes along!
