Description

These are some blocks that I my mother gave me that had been her mother's or even her grandmother's.  We really don't know exactly how old they are but mom knew that I needed to have them.

I had a vision as to how I wanted this quilt to look when it was finished.  So, I proceeded to sew each dresden onto a square of white kona.  What I didn't do was think it through before starting.  After I finished sewing the dresdens onto my blocks I was planning to set the quilt top with alternating irish chain type blocks.  My problem came with the math.  I should have done my irish chain block first then measured for my dresden block.  I now have to back into the measurements and because that is requiring a bit of thought I ended up setting the project aside for something a bit more of a "no brainer" quilt.

I've decided that now is the time to pick it up and get back at it.

Wish me luck!

beautiful and what awesome history behind them!

These are wonderful! I love that they are kept in the family. From what I can tell in the photos, these Dresdens date from the 1930's into the 1940's. I like your setting with the colored sashing and the cornerstones.
