My friend needed a pair of jeans hemmed that were 5 inches too long for her (they were clearanced & cheap & she knew I could sew them). So, I;m given the task of my very first hem job. I opted for the European hem technique and found a really awesome step by step picture tutorial on-line! In the process of hemming I learned how to oil my machine & replace the needle (can you tell I've always just sewn at my grandmother's house before, now it's my machine and at my house, haha). I bonded so much with my machine this day I named her Betsy!
The perk of this hem job is that my friend is going in for weight loss surgery next week so if the pants came out horribly wrong, no big deal they won't fit her for very long. For my first time, I can't complain!! Now shhh...don't let all my friends know or I'll end up being a seamstress! ;)
