That's such a great way to feel like you're close to and in touch with your friend. :) There's so many fabrics....wow! Can't wait to see it come together!! :)
Allpatchedup Thank you, allpatchedup! My friend is making hers 60% smaller, to fit her smaller space, and hand piecing. I'm not sure what fabrics she's using yet. And, you're right--it's great fun to work on different quilts together, over the miles...
What a fun idea and great way to stay connected!
Oh I like where you're going with this one. Can't wait to see more pictures as you progress.
Where did you find the cool Japanese fabrics? There's so much more variety here than what is offered at my LQS. Yummy!
Terryt1955 Thanks, Terry! I'm making 110 blocks, so I hope I can hang in there!?!
I bought the Chuck Nohara fabrics at her semi-annual quilt show, at a department store in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Well no wonder you have such a cool collection of japanese fabric! I forgot that you lived there for awhile. And what do you do now when you want to buy more? Is there an online store that carries a lot of her lines? All this time I thought Chuck Nohara was a guy.
Terryt1955 I have no fear of running out!?! Chuck is her English name--her Japanese name is difficult for English speakers to pronounce. Her fabrics seem to only be available in Japan.
Very disappointed to hear that her fabric is not here. I really like it. Now I'm going to be obsessed with trying to find it knowing I can't!
Love this pattern, Been looking for some inspiration for a quilt I'd like to make for my parents and I think this might be it. Not sure if I have the Quilt book, - will look when I can get back into my sewing room. Otherwise glad to see downloadable option. Your fabrics are also beautiful. I love Japanese prints, and there seems to be more available these days
Capetowngirl It is a super fun pattern and works great with fat quarters in assembly line style. Recommended!!!
True Thanks, True!!! Denise Schmidt quilts nearly every one of her quilts with that design. I see why--it's super cool!
