Description

I made this outfit for a Victorian-themed train ride at the Fort Worth Stockyards.  I used blue and cream silk dupioni and navy poly satin.  I enlarged patterns from books (Patterns of Fashion and Period Costume for Stage and Screen) to keep the look as historically correct as possible.  It's intended to be worn with a corset and bustle cage petticoat for the correct silhouette.  There are enough pleats that I wanted to buy a Perfect Pleater, but I wasn't able to justify the expense.  Instead, I made my own with aluminum foil, cardstock, and duct tape following a tutorial I found on Pattern Review.

I've seen this outfit in person, and it's awesome! Love it! :)

Ooooh pretty! If I can manage to get enough weight off by the end of August, I want to make myself a bustle dress for the Mount Tabor Historical Society's 20th House Tour. This one is truly smashing and an inspiration.
