Description

One of my favorite quilt shops began a Mystery Quilt that I began. Since it was only for 6 months, I thought I'd be able to keep up. UGH! I am so far behind and I love the fabric I chose.

I am using Grand Finale by Sandy Gervais for Moda. I love the bright fallish colors and since I'm suppose to have it done by October (ha, ha), I thought I'd have a beautiful new Autumn Quilt :flushed:.

Sep 20, 2013: Since I'm receiving so many beautiful blocks as September Queen, I began to look at my Grand Finale fabric to see what I can use for sashing, borders, etc with my Spinning Pumpkins blocks. Well, that means I better finish this one to see what's left!

I became inspired and went from Step 2 (where I ended up last August 2012) all the way to Step 5 with only one step left!! Of course since it's a mystery, I'm wondering about my color combinations but I still love the fabric and I peeked at Step 6 to see what the pattern ends up looking like and its is beautiful . . .

Sep 28, 2013: After cutting out and sewing over 564 triangles (yes I counted because I was amazed how many there were) and endless rectangles, the blocks are beginning to come together! Only about 14 of the 35 blocks left to finish!!

Sep 30, 2013: All piecing is done, blocks have been laid out and I'm now ready to sew my rows together. Whew!

Wow - over 500 triangles! Great fall colors and you're making great progress.

Kathie

HawkFan Thanks! Yes, I was totally amazed at the amount of triangles that were involved (I just pinned 68 more). But I've been very systematic and its actually been a relaxing project, just don't think I would have picked it if I'd seen all the cutting and piecing initially.

WOW this gets better and better....

Kathie

True Thanks! It's been quite the "mystery" smile . . . outside border will be the dark purple fabric so it'll be quite large when I'm done.

wow - this looks beautiful - I really like the brown and blue combination. I like mysteries - I did Bonnie Hunter's last Christmas holidays - hmm yeah it's still an UFO - the completed top that is ... and it was so fun to see it all come together ..
