Description

The pattern is from Quilting Arts- Holiday Gifts Edition 2011-2012. These first two are smaller versions- I guess you call them round snack mats- would work under a vase or something too. I'm planning a full sized one to use as a mat on my center hall table. I had originally thought of doing a wool mat but I like the look of these and I can dig into my stash and not have to purchase anything new- now just have to pick the fabric!

Oooh! Those are fabulous! I love the way you have quilted them.

Darling! Love the shape, the color AND the tight quilting! How did you find attaching the binding to these scallops? Obviously you had no problems since you cranked out 2! I like how you can use these year round...

Sewnsew Thanks- they were really fun to make and I went into it thinking they were going to be a bear:)

Terryt1955 Thanks so much- The binding wasn't too bad- some things I learned- make sure it's not to wide-1 1/2" is really all you need- (I wasn't sure at first) extra fabric doesn't have any place to go on these the way it does on a quilt:)- take smaller stitches- it will naturally just curve as you sew- I used a slip stitich, and finally clipping the curves was a big plus- I did it even closer than they suggested- about a "1/2 apart. Even still, I had some bunching- I just went with it- but I do think the larger version will be even smoother. All in all- fun to make :)
