Description

I designed this sash, veil and shoes for my younger sister's wedding in May 2011.  Fabric is baroque satin from Jo-Ann.  The embroidery on the sash was adapted from the swirling scarf pattern in Aimee Ray's Doodle Stitching.  I used pearl cotton for the stitching with seed bead accents.  The shoes were my own design inspired by the above mentioned pattern.  The veil was made with fabric covered buttons from the baroque satin stitched onto a ribbon base with bridal tulle.

Beautiful, especially since I can't imagine that the satin was easy to embroider!

Rebecca

The satin was pretty difficult to work with - easily snagged, pulled, bubbled, and marked despite using a tear away iron-on stabilizer. I'd definitely do a few things differently if I was making another one. Ideally a different fabric would be better, but this is the color my sister loved, so I made it work.

...And a good sister you are! It is all so pretty and sweet.
