Description

After taking part in 2 hst swaps on thequiltshow.com I ended up with about 740 hsts from around the world, including a couple from fellas.  Because they were made by paper piecing I also had (nearly) everyone's name that I swapped with.  To keep all of these names with my quilt I carefully printed them onto fabric to use for part of the flying geese borders.

The middle panel was a batiks only exchange and the block used was Friendship chain.  The outer panel was a block called Ribbon Chain and I machine quilted it using variations of Weardale Chain on the borders & central panel - a traditional North Country (UK) design and a large cable on the outer panel.  With this I found that it was getting a secondary name of Chains of Friendship.

Since I like the concept of double sided quilts, that is what I tend to do, although the piecing is larger.  Included on the back are photos of 2 Sorting Hats I made (with help from some friends) for the 2 ladies who ran & organised the Sisterhood of the Travelling Triangles exchange, the Letter of Introduction I sent with them, the label, and other momentos of the exchange(s)

Actually I've never seen anything like it. The names and all the work done to the back just blows my mind. Truly one of a kind.

I can not fathom how you went about laying out all the HST to come up with this design. My socks are blown off and still hovering in the air!

Breathtaking!
