Description

For some reason, I choose to burden myself with the task of making my girls' Halloween costumes, which inevitably involves frustration at not finding the right fabric, little girls losing pieces of their costume 5 minutes after I finish, and sometimes major revisions need to happen right before the deadline.

Really, it isn't that bad, but after my husband threw away a piece of the Strawberry Shortcake costume (can't husbands tell the difference between a scrap piece and an actual piece piece? ha ha)... I almost threw in the towel.  It is only the excitement my girls have over a mom-made costume that keeps me going, and smiling, every go-around.  Luckily, this year the costume requests were decently easy- we only have one unaccounted for piece, and another that needs to be washed thanks to a missed trip to the bathroom...

I think I'll look back and really love how I tried to do by best to create what they wanted.  Even now, when my 6-year-old tells everyone I made her costume, I know how pleased she is and it makes me feel like I am doing my job well enough for her, and that's what is important!

Loved reading about how excited your children are to have mama made costumes. Nothing can say love like listening to what they want to be and making it happen.
