Log Cabin by Strandkorbtraum
This is my first quilt - it's from the time before digital cameras, well when I finally had the tope pieced together I had one.
I had been doing "patchwork cushion covers" before that, but I didn't know anything about patchwork or quilting. So I learned baout patchwork when we did America in the English class, and society there - a melting pot or a patchwork blanket. My part was to do researh on what patchwork is which got me into the whole trouble.
So I declared (I was pretey good at that back then) I was goign to make a quilt top, and it had to be a log cabin and I showed my mum a picture and told her to figure out how to make it so she could teach me. I did show her a picture. Not knowing about inches either back then (dark dark times), the fabric was cut, the strips where almost 1,5 inches wide - which I know now is a quite tiny for quilting standards, but in metric it seemed to be a lot.
That's the story - I cut the fabric, I chain sewed the pieces together (not that I knew tha term). The assembly of the top had to wait till the net summer holidays.
I still need to do a border - I even have the fabric somewhere, or I could just finish it without it.
