Eucharistic Corporal by Speattle
Embroidery & Embellishments
My brother in law was ordained today as a Deacon in the Catholic Church. It was the culmination of 5 years training and hard work and spiritual discernment.
I sewed a Eucharistic Corporal for him to use when he brings Communion to the homebound. The edges are double hemmed and corners mitered. In accordance to the guidelines for Altar Linens, I put a bit of embroidery on the center front edge. I found a pattern for a lovely simple red-work cross (worked in white).
He was very happy to get the gift and was touched that it was made for him.
I actually made two of them thinking one would be for practice. Happily they both turned out really well, and I will gift the other one to my nephew who is in seminary.
The photography is not that great. The cloth(s) are white with white embroidery. Detail shows up better in real life.
