Description

I was doing a challenge with my guild in which you were to make a project based on children's artwork. My daughter had made a chalk drawing of a beanie baby in art class of her junior year in high school. They were supposed to be doing shading using other colors than gray/black. The teacher had hung beanie babies from the ceiling for the kids to use as their models. My daughter chose to stay in her seat and draw what she saw rather than moving around the room to view one from the front. I absolutely adored her picture (immediately dubbed "chicken butt,") and knew immediately eventually it would get turned into a quilt project.

I created an applique chicken and then did everything else by thread-painting, with some hand-stitched embellishments.

I see him becoming a series. "Chicken Butt Ski-Jumping." "Chicken Butt Goes Tubing." "Chicken Butt Parasails."
