This will most certainly help to cheer her up! I feel for her, and I feel for you. Good luck getting everything done that you want to send her--I know you'll be motivated!
Sandyquiltz Thanks! I am definitely motivated but I still need to come up with some other ideas for smaller projects. I'm thinking an apron and tea towels for the holidays since she's always in the kitchen creating.
She'll be able to wrap herself up in your love with the quilt and the cushion will have her beaming. My son's job is the same. It stinks for them and for us as mums.
I am so sorry she will not be home for the holidays it is so hard...I remember the first time I was not able to be with my mom many years ago and yes reality did stink! But what great ideas you have to make sure Mom is there with her in so many other ways...hugs
So sorry she won't be able to be home! So hard to not be around family during the holiday. I'm sure she'll love having snuggles from home.
Aw, that's too bad! But you're so sweet for helping to decorate her home. I've got a stack of that same fabric waiting for me to do something with...
I've hated it when my children can't make it home so I do the same thing, sew ! This pillow is so cheerful and an apron with pot holders is always appreciated by the cook.
So sorry to hear- we go through the same with my son and daughter- no fun. The pillows and quilt will go a long way to cheer her up - yup- really cute fabric for sure:)
Love, love, love the pillow the red stitching is perfect!
Thanks True . I am so enjoying this simple little hand stitching detail. I want to make a gazilion pillows now. Figures I would go overboard. Do I hear obsessive compulsive?
Love how you finished this- really charming- nope not OC- just on a creative roll:)
The hand stitching and the red around the edges gives your cushion the wow factor. I agree with Mymble about you being on a creative roll.....Go for it! Cushions don't take long to make and the possibilities are endless!
OK I want these they are too darn cute!
Thanks True . I think I'm going to have to make another set for me. All of a sudden it was Christmas at the house and I am SO happy!
One cushion was cute.....two are cuter than cute!
Love this line of fabric. Pillows are soooo cute!
Love the pillows. Terryt, It is always so hard to be away from our children but the holidays seem worse of all. If you have skye, make sure you use it, it well help both of you. I will be missing my youngest daughter again this year too. I have be sewing things for her to make christmas a little more personal for her. Your daughter is going to love these pillows and can even hug them too.
Oh they are nice - even I could use them - I'm not into Christmas decoration at all ... apart from an advent calendar and a advent wreath ...
But they look christmassy in a non-chistmas way.
Quilt455 We will definitely be using skype and it's better than nothing but not the same. What things are you making for your daughter?
wow I want 5 weeks of christmas holidays too ... I get 2 if I'm lucky ...
True, I have make her a totebag, a snappy purse to go inside the tote and since she is in Wa state and not used to the cool, going to make her a really fuzzy rag quilt over the weekend. Going to be sending her wool socks (don't know how to make them) and long underwear for starters. This flu that I been fighting all week is getting into my sewing time. Good news, Wendy, Conni and I are having a sewing day on Saturday and usually get lots done then.
Quilt455 How fun that you are having a Quilting day on Saturday with Wendy and Connie! So jealous!!! Sorry to hear you got hit by the flu bug. I'm hoping that the mandatory flu shot at my hospital is going to ward off the flu demons for me this year. I saw the cutest Simplicity pattern for slipper/boots that I thought would be great for my daughter (who will also be freezing her butt off in Chicago). Joann's was having this massive sale over the weekend but the patterns go on sale next week. I'm thinking seriously about trying to make them.
P.S. Underarmour makes this whole line of very warm clothing with no bulk. It's not cheap but it's indestructable. If your daughter is just starting out it might be worth the investment.
Get in top form this weekend and give everyone a big hug from me!
Thanks Terryt for the heads up on the pattern. I actually have several patterns picked out to get on thursday when the sale starts and will look for the slipper pattern while there getting the other ones. I will look into the Underarmour line of clothing since she is living on a Island, she has no idea how cold it is going to get; hmmm maybe that will make her want to move back. hehehe wishful thinking. I love getting together with Wendy and Conni for a sewing day; the two of them are just great. Wish you could be with us too, what a great time we would have. Not sure if it is all the sewing I get done or all the laughing that I enjoy so much.
Quilt455 Without the laughing there is no point in getting together! I get together with a group of women on Wednesday nights and we get very little done because of all the laughing and story telling. But I walk away with good tips from anything ranging from recipes, health info, good fabric web sites and yes sometimes even a tip on quilting. It's my therapy.
Terryt, sound just like our little sewing group and I just love it and wouldn't want it any other way! Aren't "sewing" friends just the best.
