Description

This was my first quilt.  I tried a few cushion covers first, then browsed through Quilter's Cache and thought this looked like a nice pattern.  My cutting and piecing were pretty slow back then, and it took six hours to make each block!  Thankfully I discovered audiobooks halfway through.  Not the best choice of fabrics or pattern for the job (sofa quilt, and the sofa is a less olivey green than this), but eh, we all have to learn somehow, and I'm still very fond of it.  It did teach me to be dead accurate with my piecing, and that with this pattern, for some of the seams you have to sew one thread away from the sewing line (in either direction, depending on the piece).

I think that the color choices are great! Good contrast and the design really pops!

Oh my I love it - ok I really like green, but I also like those kinds of "interwoven" (<--is that a real word?) quilts.
Can you tell me how the block is called? or add the link to it in the "Tutorial" section for the project?

Strandkorbtraum

ohh part of my post vanished. ... so... is interwoven a real word?
well mostly I asked if you could tell me how the block is called, or add the link to it in the Tutorial section for the project..

Ok now I feel really stupid - I coudl probably start by looking under the name of your project ... maybe I should just call it a day ...

The link is up now.

The colours go well with each other, but slightly less well with my sofa, which is not such an olivey green! The other thing is that this pattern looks best when you can see the whole thing laid out at once, and you don't really do that with a sofa quilt.

Yes, I like the interwoven effect too. I think it's very similar to a Lover's Knot quilt.

This looks great, especially being your first quilt! A carpenter's square is on my quilts to make list for sure, but I don't know when I will get to it. Thanks for posting the link to it on Quilter's Cache.

Really striking- I see what you mean about the full effect being felt when viewed as a whole- it's stunning!

What a great design! My husband loves green -- his favorite color -- so I'm sure he would also love this. Great job!

I love this pattern and have had it on my "to do" list forever. It's so stunning in greens.
