Description

This is Lizzie*Kate's Christmas Love from the JCS 2012 Special Christmas Issue.  I'm using Cottage Garden Threads - Red Carnation; DMC 936 and DMC 312 on 25 count Dublin.  I am rather partial to Cottage Garden Threads and this red one is just perfect.  The picture is from when I started it on Friday night after an eventful afternoon at work......It shows where some of the stitches have been pulled tight!

My Sweet 16 lives where we would put up a Christmas tree (I'm sure you understand.)  For many years I've been finishing my cross stitch ornaments byputting them in frams, as little cushions, needle cases or inserts into Christmas cards.  Every year I drool over the flat finishes I find online and think to myself, I will do that next year. Well, the only way to get one finished is to make next year this year!

I'm leaning towards Dani's method of finishing, without the loop at the top of the cord.  The Floss Box has slightly different finish, which I have in mind for finishing my next ornament, Do You Hear by Shepherd's Bush.

The Twisted Stitcher has heaps of great finishing tutorials and I will be finishing Mosey 'N Me's Santa's Helper as a flat fold. in a couple of ornaments time.

I finished this one just in the nick of time.  I got up at 5am yesterday morning.....I gave it to my friend a few hours later.....and she loved it!

Carolmarie Thank you! smile_cat I discovered LK designs about 2009 and totally fell head over heels in stitchy love.

Carolmarie If you want to give it a go, get some aida, embroidery floss and a blunt needle, choose a LK freebie you like and we could have a SAL. If you get stuck, I can help.

Lovely!

Kathie

I've just gotten back into cross stitching and love it! This is such a pretty design!

Kathie Caribousmom Thank you both. I really enjoyed stitching it.

I think cross stitch is the one sewign thing I can't get friendly with. But I like seeing the results. And I really don't have to do everything...
Ohh and what is a Sweet 16?

Sewnsew

Strandkorbtraum A Sweet 16 is a mid-arm quilting machine made by HandiQuilterHQ. I'm a cross stitcher who quilts. wink

Sewnsew ohh I see (not that I have seen anything but a normal sewing machine in real) .. ahh I will leave the cross stitching in your capable hands then.
