My second "First Quilt"... by stitchcat
This was my second "first quilt." I took this class at my LQS where I had just purchased my new (yippee!) sewing machine and needed to practice my sewing skills. The nice thing about this class was that there were a few new blocks (half squares?) and the opportunity to try some free motion quilting along the border. I also discovered there's more than one way to skin a cat and having a different instructor brought new approaches to doing things.
I took a craftsy class (FMQ with Wendy Butler Burns) to learn her approach to FMQ. It was terrific and after a few practice sessions on muslin I decided to "go for it".
I gave the quilt to my newborn grand-nephew. In the excitement I forgot to take a picture of the actual finished quilt before I gave it away. But here's a couple "in process" pics.
