Description

I had a lot of fun this morning sewing my Christmas ornament for the swap here on Threadbias. I found a great little birdie tutorial (click on the link below and then go to the sidebar of the blog to find the pattern) and modified it a bit to give my birdie some wings to fly to his new home!

I used Cherry Christmas fabric by Aneela Hooey for Moda which I thought was sweet since it had little birds on it! The tail feathers are hand stitched with red floss and I attached the wings with tiny buttons.

I hope my swap partner will enjoy this little fella!!

Update 11/29/2012: I decided to make another little birdie for my sister - this one uses polka dots for the wings :)

Rebecca

Oh this is so cute! I love the "fluffy" wings!

Caribousmom

Rebecca Thanks! All I did was make a little wing, pin the paper onto a square of fabric and made a quilt sandwich (I used wool batting), then stitched around the outline over the paper....then peeled the paper off and trimmed with pinking shears. Easy peasy!

Mymble

This is too cute! Thanks for the tutorial- I always do a little theme tree for the sunroom and I can see a whole flock of these nesting for Christmas- really wonderful!

Caribousmom

Mymble Thanks! And the best part - they are SO easy to make...I am thinking of making a few more myself :)

Mary

So cute... love the way the stuffing shows to make the wings look extra fluffy.

Amanda

So cute!

Caribousmom

Amanda Thanks! Mary Thanks! I was hoping for that effect :)

True

OMG so cute...may have been easy but those wings make that birdie oh so cute!
