These are almost finished. The waistbands need elastic in the casing and I need to find the buttons and do the buttonholes. For my grandchildren. I have a grandson who is 10 months old, and a granddaughter who just turned 2. They are cousins. Both love the book “Goodnight Moon” and the fabric is from that line. I used the blue stripe because that is what the little bunny in the story wears. The pockets are made from contrasting fabrics in the same collection. I added a bit of eyelet on the larger pair because it is for my granddaughter. The littler pair goes to my grandson. Pattern is Kwik-Sew 3126.
I think simple white buttons would look best, myself. We can say they're the full moon.
That is what I was thinking too. I may just dig through my button box for random white buttons.
Or, (and you know me and my paranoia over choking), I might just opt to do velcro closing so I don't have to lay awake at night worrying about a button coming off and a small child choking on it.
You could do both, like with the robe you sewed me when I was little: buttons very, very firmly attached but only as a decoration with velcro to hold it on for real. LJ's sleeping now with that nightgown on over her cat pajamas and under about eight blankets, just like she wanted.
She's wearing the cat's pajamas? However does she fit into them? Tell her to give them back to the cat!
Bleh. Now I have an image of her wearing a cat skin suit.
I also realize I didn't type clearly: she had on a nightgown under the robe. Then she was under her quilt and the eight smaller blankets.
