Description

I've done the "Circle of Geese" block before as a 12" block.  I decided to reduce the size of this block to make an ornament for the Holiday Ornament Swap.   It is a 3" block now.  Tiny pieces to work with and I wouldn't consider doing anything this small if it wasn't a paper-piecing block.

I used turquoise, red and white for a more modern twist to Christmas.  My partner in the swap designated either Christmas or Winter for her ornament so this works for both I think.

I may try it again in a few other combinations to pick the one I think is best for my partner.
Here's the second attempt which I'm called "Framed Circle of Geese Ornament".  I like this one better as it allows the circle of geese to show better.

Mymble

Really lovely- love the colors you chose!

Quilterinmotion

Mymble . Thank you! I was wondering if I should do a green and red one but I rather like those colors too. You decided me; hope my swap partner feels the same way.

So cute!!!

Quilterinmotion

Sweetdreamsbysarah , thanks.

Marsha, Amazing detail! I love them both, and loved reading about and seeing pictures of your traveling studio on your blog. Looks like fun! Do you have a favorite destination spot?

Quilt455

love it!

Legogirl

WOW that is so pretty.

Kathie

Beautiful! I keep changing my mind on which ornament to make . . . I may have to do several!

True

Wow I love this both the design and colors! Beautiful job:-)

Mary

Very pretty...here in Brethren MI...the original settlers came from Finland...father Christmas is part of the culture...blue is more popular as a Christmas Color than red and green.

Sewzalot , so glad you dropped by the blog! We don't travel constantly anymore; did that for 10 years and still didn't go to every state. We go south in the winter to Alabama and Florida; summers we volunteer in a Vermont State Park near our daughter's home.

Kathie , True, +Quilt 455, Legogirl ,...thank you for the nice compliments.

This is so pretty! I haven't paper pieced in years, but you're making me want to dig out my supplies. :)

Rebeccajeffsmith

I like them both, but the one edged in red does show the geese better. I might have to work on a small paper pieced project soon. It's been a while and I have tons of Christmas scraps I could use. Well, I'll have to raid my wastebasket in the sewing room to get to them. haha

Caribousmom

This is darling and so well pieced!!! I agree the framed circle of geese shows off the fabrics best :)

Tinabartk

Super cute! Love the colors!!!

Thank you ladies. I know I will be sending the framed Geese to my swap partner; unless I come up with another ornament by then---which could happen. ;-)

I'm impressed! This is so tiny and so perfect! Another technique I've wanted to try but haven't yet. Lucky swap partner!
