Description

I wanted to do a little Christmas sewing to get into the holiday spirit. I gathered red and green fabrics from my stash and cut and sewed 1 1/2" strips and then cut triangles to make stars. My 60 degree triangle ruler made accurate cutting an easy task. I decided on a table runner with the stars in a row with white kona cotton for the background, a cute pixie fabric for the back and red and white striped binding.

Cute! I'm thinking I may end up doing something Christmassy this weekend on impulse for the same reason. I've got holiday fabrics I've been collecting from way back and haven't used yet....

Thesewingchick

Sandyquiltz Thanks! I put on Christmas music and it really got me in the spirit.

Terryt1955

So jealous of this star and your stash! And what Christmas music were you listening to?

True

Saw this on your blog this morning and love! I am working on some holiday things as well after saying I would not do it this year...let us hope they are done for this Christmas:-) Thanks for inspiration!!

WOW love it!

Thesewingchick

Terryt1955 I put on Pandora's Christmas radio. It was all the oldies - Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, etc. and a lot of Michael Buble and Josh Groban. Great fun!!

Thesewingchick

True Thanks! And this is just for me so there is no pressure. If I were going to make gifts, I would have to start in July!!

Terryt1955

I just heard Karen Carpenter singing some oldies and realized how good she was. Back in the day I cringed over them, now I wish she had made more records.

Wow you are fast! And LOVE that backing and the binding as well...great finish!

Thesewingchick

True Well, it was sew or do laundry. And really, can't the kids do their own laundry?!

Thesewingchick

Terryt1955 Such a shame she died so young. It's not Christmas without hearing her sing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". christmas_tree

Thesewingchick LOL I am now a firm believer they can do EVERYTHING if it means we can quilt;-) Maybe I should try that at work as well!!

Quilterinmotion

True , I always had that belief about my children and taught them early to be independent. It paid off when I started quilting. ;-)
+Thesewingcvhick, this doesn't look like a quick project. You must have sewed all day and all night! Lovely to look at.

Terryt1955

What time is breakfast?! I would love sitting at this table with your lovely table runner and your Spode dishes. I enjoyed looking at all the new pictures. It really gets one in the mood!

Thesewingchick

Quilterinmotion It is actually faster than it looks. I just sewed all day, not all night wink

Thesewingchick : It's so beautiful and looks like it's very time consuming to make. Don't you just love it when you have one that is easy/fast to put together but everyone thinks it so complicated looking???

Slicksister

So when are you going to write a tutorial for this? I love it.
