Fall Buffet Table Runner by Terryt1955
With a family of 7 and growing with the addition of husbands, in-laws, boyfriends and kids the holidays are usually held at our house to handle the crowds. Not that our house is big but we have a good open floor plan that allows easy movement from the inside to the outside, just don't ask me about our puny kitchen. I now set up a buffet table in the bonus room to spread out all the appetizers/deserts (and to keep people out of the kitchen). So this table runner is wider than most and will actually cover almost the whole width of the buffet table once done. I'll still put a plain white table clothe underneath it since the "buffet table" is nothing more fancy than a folding Costco table and has it's share of paint and what not on it.
I'm not a fan of fall colors but started this at a Sunday Brunch class where the LQS puts together a kit with pattern and fabric. We got to pick the border, binding and backing material but pretty much the colorway had been chosen. I swapped out one of the fabrics for the black print just so I could tone down all that gold! It's an immediate flash back to my mom's house in the 70's! Yikes!
5/118/13 It's finished in time for Thanksgiving this year. Funny I still feel the exact same way about it now as I did last October. I'm just not a fan of gold and dirty orange together. I guess that's why it took me so long to finish this! Good news is once all the serving dishes are out you hardly see it!
