Description

My sister-in-law is past her 9-month mark and due to have the mystery-gender-baby any day now.  I already made her a girl quilt, and am frantically trying to finish the boy quilt so I can put a quilt package in the mail the day we discover if the baby is a boy or girl.

Do you want to know what is a total bummer?  Running out of a solid, heading back to the store and buying more, and bringing it home to discover it is from a different dye lot and the color is *that* different.  Ugh.

Now that it is all finished up, you can't tell the color difference, and the loose quilting and minky batting make it SUPER soft.

And I am officially out of boy stash fabrics ;)

This is adorable...love fabric! I would have cried over solids dye lot issue...so glad it worked out and best wishes to your sil and the new baby!

Here is my take on the dye lot thing...there are no rules in quilting. 100 years ago women used what they had...and if it matched, fine, if not, also fine. This quilt is wonderful! The colors and prints are just perfect for a little boy. As to your stash problem...running out of boy prints just means shopping!!

Carolmarie, I know what you mean! 5 of my friends just had a total of 6 babies... in the past 6 days! There's no keeping up with that! That is a burp-cloth gift situation right there :)

This quilt is so cute and I KNOW it's going to capture that baby's attention whether it's a girl or boy. There's just so much activity going on and the fabric is so stinkin cute. 6 babies in 6 days; Holy ovaries batman!
I thought I was busy with 5 new babies in 8 months.
