Description

I'm terrible at naming quilts, hence the name for this one! lol This was made by the Birthday Block Quilt Group on LJ in 2010. I need to figure out the final layout and sew the blocks together and add a border, plus quilting ect. It'll make a nice lap quilt.  I'm sort of "meh" about it though so I might donate it somewhere when I'm done. I can't even remember the name of the block at this point.  Ah well.

Feb. 6, 2013: Finished up the top a few days ago.  Yay!  Not sure what I'll do with this one when it's done. I might just practice quilting on it and donate it somewhere. I decided to just go with the layout I had put up earlier.  I played with the blocks for a while and really liked this version best.

March 1, 2013: Finally remembered the name of the block! Tennessee.  See the tutorial link for how to make it.

I think the block name is Three and Six. It's in one of my block books. I love all the different colors with the black background.

I like the black against the bright colors. Now this is what my husband would call a quilt. So there are people who would love it!

Nice secondary pattern!

True

I think this is gorgeous with the blacks against the brighter colors...someone will be thrilled with it! I also love the pattern that gets created.

Terryt1955 Agreed, it's very graphic!

True I just kinda wish it wasn't in batiks. Some quilt blocks look great but I think this one could've benefitted from a different kind of fabric... maybe bright solids?

True

Jennifleur Oh bright solids would be amazing...I am funny about batiks...but that is just me...sometimes love them but find them harder to work with...

Jennifleur

True I used to love them more but these days I'm not so over the moon about them. Tastes change.

True

You have been busy! I still love this one...

LOVE IT...love the black amongst the bright colors. It really pops! I did this pattern years ago for my daughters wall hanging, but never did know the name of the pattern. THANKS for letting me know. I have always wanted to make another one for me!

Jodyrose I remembered today... the name of the block is Tennessee. Follow the tutorial link to see how to make the block. =)

Thanks! It is the same pattern I made years ago, but it can really take on a different look (as so many do) by where and how you place the colors!
Dont you just love Quilters Cache? :)

Hey, someone else from the 2010 LJ block swap! I was the one with the crazy quilt blocks in reds and so forth. Yours has turned out great. Some time I'm going to stare at it and try to work out which blocks I made.
