Description

Probably my favorite of the new pillows I made. I've already had a lot of questions about how to do the lettering so here goes:

Print out the words you want to quilt onto regular paper ( or print directly onto  paper piecing paper and skip the next few steps)
then using swiss dress maker paper, trace the outline of the words
Pin the words in place on your project ( i cut the words out and scattered them around my star placement)

Using your Free motion quilting foot, carefully sew over the dress maker paper, and out line each letter. Then tear away all the excess, tweezers help get out all the little stubborn bits
Then go back and fill in the letters with FMQ. This is tedious but a great technique if you don't have access to a fancy embroidery machine!

Same technique on the let it snow pillow! Let me know if you try it out, I'd love to see what you come up with!

OK I LOVE this pillow and thank you so much for telling how you did words...I will have to try this after the holidays but just love it and pinned it!

Amanda

This is so incredibly awesome. I totally need to try this... AFTER Christmas. smile

Carolmarie Amanda True You guys are so sweet :) It's possible that using the same paper you use for paper piecing ( which is thinner and tears away easily) would work pretty well too. I just didn't feel like moving stuff to get into my less used supply cabinet so I used the dress maker paper. It gets a little tedious filling in the letters but I just listen to audio books while I sew, so I had Harry Potter to keep me company :)
