Description

This project is from Debbie Caffrey's "Open a Can of Worms".

2/12: Blocks are trimmed and top 1/2 of quilt is laid out on my floor, I'll start sewing them together in the morning!  There are sashing strips in between the sections.

3/2: I had ordered some fabric for the inner borders on 2/13 and when it hadn't arrived yet on 2/22 I called the store.  It was mailed the next day and when I received it I decided that while I loved the fabric it wasn't right for the quilt.  This morning the 1st fabric I saw when I walked in the door of my LQS turned out to be the ONE!  Now to finish putting it together and mail it to my LAQ on Monday...

9/26: OK I'm laughing now after reading my 3/2 update!

There is something about this project that makes it stall for me... over and over.  Yet I love it so much!  I scurried outside to take these pictures of the assembled top before the sun left our yard so please ignore all the loose threads.

10/2: This top was mailed to my LAQ and won't come back until sometime in December.

This is very pretty look forward to seeing whole quilt.

Caribousmom

I love how this comes together and makes that secondary pattern with white X's...lovely!

Stamdl

Caribousmom True Thanks so much! I saw this quilt made up in a shop years ago and was thrilled to learn it was sold in a kit. This was way before Moda introduced the Jelly Roll concept, at that time the strips were called "worms"! I'll be having this professionally quilted and hope to get the top ready after I finish my Christmas sewing.

Terryt1955

Worms huh? I think I like the jelly strips name a lot better! I love the white X's in the quilt breaking up the lovely prints and showing them off. My brain can't handle too much busyness so this is a great pattern! Can't wait to see it added to the UFO finished pile!

Stamdl

Terryt1955 I agree about the worms! I used to do a lot of 2.5" strip swaps and we always called them noodles... I guess that's a step up from worms.

Mymble

Love this- I agree with Caribousmom -the secondary pattern from the x's is great. And I like your name for it - no worms!;))))

Janquilter

I love the scrappy look! Very pretty fabrics.

Slicksister

I really like the colors you chose and the white X's are perfect.

I have this book, too--it was given to me by a friend years ago. Funny how they called them worms back them. Jelly rolls are brilliant. I pulled my copy back out of the basement. You've inspired me to give it a try. Yours is beautiful.

Stamdl

Aizome Have fun and I look forward to seeing yours!

QCHandmade

The colors in this quilt are so gorgeous, they somehow work for every season. Beautiful quilt!

Stamdl

Qchandmade Thank you! I have always been drawn to florals and I can't wait to see what my LAQ suggests for quilting.
