Description

Shabby Roses is UFO Finish #7 for 2013!

The pattern I used is called "Down the Garden Path" from an April 2002 issue of McCall's Quilting. This quilt was inspired by a set of fat quarters I bought from Keepsake Quilting. The fabric line is Tudor Garden by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers. This quilt was pieced in 2005.

Shabby Roses was professionally quilted in December 2012 by Nancy Clayburn of Quilting by Design. Nancy used large diagonal loopy feathers to accentuate the layout.

I had to scramble to piece a backing large enough when I realized I had not purchased enough of the large floral on green. Fortunately I found the matching large floral on tan in my stash and had enough leftovers from the top to make it work!

I especially like the flow of value: the sharp contrast with the little blocks on one side and the gradual shift through mediums on the other. The quilting desigh is really nice too.

Another beauty and opening the package must be a major thrill!!

Okay what is LAQ? Did you make this or receive it? It's quite pretty.

Stamdl

Terryt1955 True Clairealex Thanks everyone! LAQ is Long Arm Quilter Terryt1995... I made the top and mailed it out for quilting. Usually I kind of know what kind of quilting she is doing, but this time around we were both so busy that she just did what she thought I would like and she was right!

Terryt1955

LOL, I can be so thick at times! Can you tell I've never treated myself to a LAQ? One day when I've made a worthy quilt.

Yarnosophy

Love this! The colours and classic look are gorgeous.

Stamdl

Yarnosophy Thank you so much! I can't resist shabby florals & paisleys... and I love these rich colors. My living room seems so much cozier today!

Ashrivers

What genius color choices!! Nicely done! :)

Ashrivers Thank you! I'm so happy with it.
