Description

I got a Bigshot for my Birthday and was playing around cutting hexies with it with no real plan of what to make with them.  My 9 yo son then got involved and we cut rather too many hexies (warning, glue basting with a 9 yo is a very messy business!).  I remembered some linen I had bought to see if I liked it for a quilt but hadn't made the grade so I sewed the hexies together, attached them with Heat and Bond Ultra, slip stitched around the edge of the shapes, sewed 4 seams and called it a cushion!  Finished size is 18x18 but I put a 20x20 cushion inside it as I wanted it quite fat.

lol It is very easy to get carried away with the Big Shot isn't it? The cushion looks lovely.

Legogirl

Oooo I like this very nice..

Sewnsew Legogirl very easy to cut too many, especially when my son took over and wanted to keep going!

Thanks for the compliments!

Carolmarie It is a Sizzix Bigshot. It is like a AccuCut Go cutter. I originally got mine for papercraft, then they started making quilting dies. I use their paper dies for cutting applique shapes.

Sewnsew Carolmarie Sewnsew is right, it's a Sizzix. There are dies in different sizes, not too many hexies at the moment but they are supposed to be releasing more. I also bought a 2" finished square die to cut my scraps with, really useful and quick!

Jenniesthreads

Beautiful cushion! I'm in the north east too!

Jenniesthreads hello, nice to 'meet' you! I am now following you blog. I've not been quilting long so I'm still looking for places and people related to it in this region if you have any recommendations!

Jenniesthreads

Finallywakingup I am a regular at the Fat Quarters in Black Hall Mill - it's between Newcastle and Consett and there's loads of fabric and they do lots of classes!

Finallywakingup

Jenniesthreads thanks, will have to look that up, I'm a bit further South, nearer Whitby but I do get Newcastle way!
