Love it! Looks great in snowy Maine! Thanks for being in the cold to take the picture :)
Laweigel LOL I moved really fast (actually it was "warm" that day now don't laugh at me it was 30...I was in clogs, no socks and no coat.
That's cold!!! It sure looks beautiful in Maine.
VERY pretty fabric! IS this called a Granny Square?
Great job- love your fabric choices!
Mymble and +terryt1055 thank for I love this fabric collection. And yes it is a Granny Square block...but not trimmed down as to ship it we did not want to create edge's on the bias so Lori will trim once she has them all.
And had I read your description I would have seen that youcalled it a Granny Square. Not too bright today!
Ohhhhh! Ohhhhhh! That is fabulous. The fabric you used is gorgeous. covering my eyes and repeating 100 times. I will not start a new quilt. I will not start a new quilt.
Sewnsew LOL I have been very tempted to buy more of this fabric I love it so much...I am not sure I can hold out...as I know an online store or two that has it;-)
lol I think you should get some then!
love love love the fabrics you picked for your granny square.
Wow...look at that butterfly! Beautiful, just beautiful.
That butterfly is amazing!
GORGEOUS...another winner! I am struggling with my butterfly a bit, so your comment " no one will know if it doesnt turn out" helps!! LOL
Jodyrose I had to tell myself that at every single step as I was sure I would get stumped but as I just took each step at a time I ended up with something I loved! Good luck it is a challenge but so fun at the same time.
ohh my - that's actually abutterfly ... mine is more a butchered fly ...
True ROFL Good way to look at it!! It's a way to push yourself a bit while leaving yourself an 'out' if it didn't work out for some reason. I must say tho...the gamble paid off big time! :)
True , that's a gorgeous butterfly! I think taking the pressure off by realizing that you didn't have use that one if it didn't come out is a great way to do new techniques, etc. You didn't have to worry though, it's awesome.
HOw did I miss the butterfly? Beautiful! And allthose tiny dots you appliqued on top of the wings is very impressive! DId you use a stabilizer on the backside?
I really like the converging corners one too. Such a pretty pattern and fabric you chose...
Terryt1955 I used fusible interfecing on each part of the butterfly down and then layered the other pieces on top. And thank you for kind words on both blocks. I love the fabric I ordered online for the yellow and red one!
I love the look of this block!! Amazing :)
True, these are all wonderful!
I love my block! I would never stroke out over a color choice! I am open to everyone's interpretation of red and yellow. And yours looked very red to me!
Chrissybugs Thank you! I had no red so ordered online and prayed! Have to say there sure are a whole lot of shades of red out there. I love this fabric so much I made my own block for other bee using it. And one of fabric is The color weave collection which I had been wanting to see so used needing yellow as an excuse to buy it...really like how it looks. I did not get in mail yesterday as forgot it at home but will do so Monday.
Love my Dresden block..its got a wonderful rich old world feel to it ...the colors are gorgeous!.thank you so much...glad you posted a picture since i have to wait til my computer is back to start posting:)
Carolmarie in actuality it is not that difficult I followed this tutorial and could give you a couple other hints to things I figured out... http://www.stitcherydickorydock.com/dresdens-decoded-tutorial/
Having said that I think it would feel like an intimidating block to some (like me until I actually did it all by machine) but ask AllPatchedUp what she thinks:-)
Don't know how I missed your Dresden for Mymble. Beautiful. The colors are so rich and they definitely feel old world. The deep red and the rich blue especially. It brings me back instantly to the stained glass windows in the church I use to go to!
True Love all the blocks. Your choice of fabrics and fussy cutting for the July is wonderful. Very inspiring looking at your work
HawkFan thank you so much that makes my day...I think that July block would make a cute I spy quilt for a child!
Your August block is so striking! Love that rich red fabric against the black. These are paper pieced right? Chandra's quilt is going to be stunning!
Terryt1955 Thank you and yes this is one I you about the paper piecing makes a really nice flying geese! And Chandra's is the film strip one this one is for Sewqueen.
I was going to ask you next about the film strip. What a cute idea for an I Spy quilt! How big are the blocks? They look large but if that were the case it would take up a lot of fabric to do fussy cutting that big.
I'm going to go see if I can find Sewqueen's tutorial for you know who....
Terryt1955 ;-). The filmstrip block will only be 12.5 unfinished once Chandra trims them down. She had us leave them untrimmed for mailing purposes. So actually fussy cut was not big at all...cannot recall exactly but maybe 3.5". I love them and agree would make an awesome ISpy quilt! Google paper pieced flying geese as may get better pattern this one was hard to get it to print at the right scale but I know there are loads out there for what you need:-)
Love your flying geese- really pretty- so far it sounds like she will get a nice variety of colors- love how that works out:)
Mymble thanks and I so agree will be very pretty! And I sent dog and cat hair with mine so extra special;-)
LOL I thought I recognized lab fur! It's inevitable when working with black.
Thank God for lint rollers. I have almost as many of them as I do pairs of glasses.
RFLOL- had to go back and look- too funny!
True - I love this! And I got an Autumn Leaf to add to the sunflowers/daisies! Thank you, the colors are wonderful and I can't wait to see it in person . . .
True , I think it's so funny that the two quilters from New England decided to put an Autumn leaf in the center of their blocks!!! Wonder what we're expecting any day now!!
Very FALLY!!! Love it!!!! Beautiful job on the applique too
ohiorosemary Thank you I was fun to play with these colors as the weather here had turned very fallish!
Mary you need to change your name to the Energizer Bunny....
Since you are mailing Rebeccas next week, will have to get my November block up soon so you will have something else to do LOL
These look great, I am sure she will love them!
Jodyrose LOL that works;-) I realized if I cut out the fabrics to hers I could just sew them as worked on my other quilt and thus would be done in no time!
Your November block is so pretty! Love the scrappiness but how it doesn't take away from the square within a square part. And the soft blue background is beautiful! AS usual you are first off the blocks (hahaha) in getting it finished.
OMG Mary! Thats BEEEEUTIFUL! I am so excited! I will be rearranging these on my design wall soon. Just looking at them will get me moving!
Terryt1955 Thank you...this is a fun block and it was a good break from other things I am working on!
Love your November block- so pretty!
OH yes, one of those blocks you can make a few of and not feel drained afterwards and I can see this block working in a number of patterns- its a keeper;)
Jodyrose , I have my trial block and the actual block I made for you ready. I think I'll send you both because there's really nothing wrong with the first one. Do with it what you want. I do need your address though as I don't have an updated Excel sheet. Please PM me with your address and I'll get it in the mail Saturday.
Great fabric choices for December and Marsha picked a pretty block
True , I just stumbled upon these blocks as they showed up on the Projects front page. Wow! The are gorgeous! SO very pretty; love the darker blue you used and the lighter blue print lends a whole new look to the blue/yellow theme. Love them!!
