Laweigel

Love it! Looks great in snowy Maine! Thanks for being in the cold to take the picture :)

True

Laweigel LOL I moved really fast (actually it was "warm" that day now don't laugh at me it was 30...I was in clogs, no socks and no coat.

Laweigel

That's cold!!! It sure looks beautiful in Maine.

Terryt1955

VERY pretty fabric! IS this called a Granny Square?

Mymble

Great job- love your fabric choices!

True

Mymble and +terryt1055 thank for I love this fabric collection. And yes it is a Granny Square block...but not trimmed down as to ship it we did not want to create edge's on the bias so Lori will trim once she has them all.

True

oops cannot type Terryt1955

Terryt1955

And had I read your description I would have seen that youcalled it a Granny Square. Not too bright today!

Sewnsew

Ohhhhh! Ohhhhhh! That is fabulous. The fabric you used is gorgeous. covering my eyes and repeating 100 times. I will not start a new quilt. I will not start a new quilt.

True

Sewnsew LOL I have been very tempted to buy more of this fabric I love it so much...I am not sure I can hold out...as I know an online store or two that has it;-)

Sewnsew

lol I think you should get some then!

Nexxus831

love love love the fabrics you picked for your granny square.

True

Nexxus831 thank you so much!

AllPatchedUp

Wow...look at that butterfly! Beautiful, just beautiful.

Silsbee

That butterfly is amazing!

True

Silsbee Allpatchedup Carolmarie Thank you all...it was a fun challenge for me to come up with a butterfly block and then actually make this one! Kept telling myself no one but me would know if it did not work out;-)

Jodyrose

GORGEOUS...another winner! I am struggling with my butterfly a bit, so your comment " no one will know if it doesnt turn out" helps!! LOL

True

Jodyrose I had to tell myself that at every single step as I was sure I would get stumped but as I just took each step at a time I ended up with something I loved! Good luck it is a challenge but so fun at the same time.

True

Jodyrose oh and Thanks!!

Strandkorbtraum

ohh my - that's actually abutterfly ... mine is more a butchered fly ...

AllPatchedUp

True ROFL Good way to look at it!! It's a way to push yourself a bit while leaving yourself an 'out' if it didn't work out for some reason. wink I must say tho...the gamble paid off big time! :)

Quilterinmotion

True , that's a gorgeous butterfly! I think taking the pressure off by realizing that you didn't have use that one if it didn't come out is a great way to do new techniques, etc. You didn't have to worry though, it's awesome.

True

Allpatchedup Quilterinmotion thank you both...I have to do a lot of self talk to get myself to relax;-)

True

Strandkorbtraum Ok you made me spit out my water...LOL

Strandkorbtraum

True ahh sorry ... just hope the computer stayed dry.

Sewnsew

Strandkorbtraum That is funny!!!! True Your butterfly is really lovely.

True

Sewnsew thank you!

AllPatchedUp

Love the new block True ...those oranges and yellows are gorgeous.

Terryt1955

HOw did I miss the butterfly? Beautiful! And allthose tiny dots you appliqued on top of the wings is very impressive! DId you use a stabilizer on the backside?

Terryt1955

I really like the converging corners one too. Such a pretty pattern and fabric you chose...

True

Allpatchedup thank you....and so Chrissybugs does not have a stroke on me the fabric is person is a red...as she requested not a red, white and blue red but red:-)

True

Terryt1955 I used fusible interfecing on each part of the butterfly down and then layered the other pieces on top. And thank you for kind words on both blocks. I love the fabric I ordered online for the yellow and red one!

Vwgirl

I love the look of this block!! Amazing :)

Quilt455

True, these are all wonderful!

True

Quilt455 Vwgirl thank you both!

Chrissybugs

I love my block! I would never stroke out over a color choice! I am open to everyone's interpretation of red and yellow. And yours looked very red to me!

True

Chrissybugs Thank you! I had no red so ordered online and prayed! Have to say there sure are a whole lot of shades of red out there. I love this fabric so much I made my own block for other bee using it. And one of fabric is The color weave collection which I had been wanting to see so used needing yellow as an excuse to buy it...really like how it looks. I did not get in mail yesterday as forgot it at home but will do so Monday.

Mymble

Love my Dresden block..its got a wonderful rich old world feel to it ...the colors are gorgeous!.thank you so much...glad you posted a picture since i have to wait til my computer is back to start posting:)

True

Mymble I am so glad you like it...I sure had fun making it!!

True

Carolmarie in actuality it is not that difficult I followed this tutorial and could give you a couple other hints to things I figured out... http://www.stitcherydickorydock.com/dresdens-decoded-tutorial/

Having said that I think it would feel like an intimidating block to some (like me until I actually did it all by machine) but ask AllPatchedUp what she thinks:-)

Terryt1955

Don't know how I missed your Dresden for Mymble. Beautiful. The colors are so rich and they definitely feel old world. The deep red and the rich blue especially. It brings me back instantly to the stained glass windows in the church I use to go to!

True

Terryt1955 thank you...it was so much fun to make and tie it into her theme!

HawkFan

True Love all the blocks. Your choice of fabrics and fussy cutting for the July is wonderful. Very inspiring looking at your work

True

HawkFan thank you so much that makes my day...I think that July block would make a cute I spy quilt for a child!

Terryt1955

Your August block is so striking! Love that rich red fabric against the black. These are paper pieced right? Chandra's quilt is going to be stunning!

True

Terryt1955 Thank you and yes this is one I you about the paper piecing makes a really nice flying geese! And Chandra's is the film strip one this one is for Sewqueen.

Terryt1955

I was going to ask you next about the film strip. What a cute idea for an I Spy quilt! How big are the blocks? They look large but if that were the case it would take up a lot of fabric to do fussy cutting that big.
I'm going to go see if I can find Sewqueen's tutorial for you know who....

True

Terryt1955 ;-). The filmstrip block will only be 12.5 unfinished once Chandra trims them down. She had us leave them untrimmed for mailing purposes. So actually fussy cut was not big at all...cannot recall exactly but maybe 3.5". I love them and agree would make an awesome ISpy quilt! Google paper pieced flying geese as may get better pattern this one was hard to get it to print at the right scale but I know there are loads out there for what you need:-)

True

Terryt1955 Was way off fussy cut squares were 2 3/4" each

Mymble

Love your flying geese- really pretty- so far it sounds like she will get a nice variety of colors- love how that works out:)

True

Mymble thanks and I so agree will be very pretty! And I sent dog and cat hair with mine so extra special;-)

Terryt1955

LOL I thought I recognized lab fur! It's inevitable when working with black.
Thank God for lint rollers. I have almost as many of them as I do pairs of glasses.

Mymble

RFLOL- had to go back and look- too funny!

True

Mymble Terryt1955 and this was after I used lint roller!! But I walked through house with block in my hand and that is all it takes around here;-)

Kathie

True - I love this! And I got an Autumn Leaf to add to the sunflowers/daisies! Thank you, the colors are wonderful and I can't wait to see it in person . . .

Quilterinmotion

True , I think it's so funny that the two quilters from New England decided to put an Autumn leaf in the center of their blocks!!! Wonder what we're expecting any day now!!

True

Quilterinmotion Kathie I am so glad you like it...and a leaf just was what was in my head as it is what we focus on this time of year! And yes this morning was cold and our leaves they are a changing!!

ohiorosemary

Very FALLY!!! Love it!!!! Beautiful job on the applique too

True

ohiorosemary Thank you I was fun to play with these colors as the weather here had turned very fallish!

Jodyrose

Mary you need to change your name to the Energizer Bunny....
Since you are mailing Rebeccas next week, will have to get my November block up soon so you will have something else to do LOL
smile These look great, I am sure she will love them!

True

Jodyrose LOL that works;-) I realized if I cut out the fabrics to hers I could just sew them as worked on my other quilt and thus would be done in no time!

Terryt1955

Your November block is so pretty! Love the scrappiness but how it doesn't take away from the square within a square part. And the soft blue background is beautiful! AS usual you are first off the blocks (hahaha) in getting it finished.

Jodyrose

OMG Mary! Thats BEEEEUTIFUL! I am so excited! I will be rearranging these on my design wall soon. Just looking at them will get me moving!

True

Terryt1955 Thank you...this is a fun block and it was a good break from other things I am working on!

True

Jodyrose Excellent! Glad you like it...loads of fun making it.

Mymble

Love your November block- so pretty!

True

Mymble thank you...this was a fun block eh?!

Mymble

OH yes, one of those blocks you can make a few of and not feel drained afterwards and I can see this block working in a number of patterns- its a keeper;)

Quilterinmotion

Jodyrose , I have my trial block and the actual block I made for you ready. I think I'll send you both because there's really nothing wrong with the first one. Do with it what you want. I do need your address though as I don't have an updated Excel sheet. Please PM me with your address and I'll get it in the mail Saturday.

Mymble

True Love your blocks for Marsha- they are great!

HawkFan

Great fabric choices for December and Marsha picked a pretty block

True

Mymble HawkFan thank you...she did pick an awesome block! Fun to make

Quilterinmotion

True , I just stumbled upon these blocks as they showed up on the Projects front page. Wow! The are gorgeous! SO very pretty; love the darker blue you used and the lighter blue print lends a whole new look to the blue/yellow theme. Love them!!

True

Quilterinmotion I am so glad you like them. I love that darker blue fabric wish I knew what it was as I would buy more!
