Description

I'm working on the Madrona Road Modern Quilt Guild challenge. I's like to have it done by this Saturday for show & tell at the RIMQG meeting.

I was inspired by the chevron print, and I'm trying to mimic that in the piecing. I'm limited by the amount of fabric I was given, so I'm doing as much as I can with what I've got.

I finished the top on January 5, then pieced the back and prepared the binding. Then I had to set it aside for a while to work on more pressing deadlines.

Finally got around to quilting on Jan 24. I used a tan Aurifil 50 wt thread, which I really like. I bought a package of Mountain Mist Cream Rose batting for 50% off at Joanns. It's OK, but not as nice as the Quilters Dream I usually use.

I had a design dilemma with the quilting. I didn't like my first pass of curly fern, so I tried a swag design that I liked better. It took about an hour to tear out the quilting on the first row of chevrons. Worth every minute. I'm much happier with the finished product.

I'm really happy that I finished the challenge in time to meet the deadline! This might be my first start to finish in just 3 weeks.

Mystery quilts and challenges are favorites mine...gets me outside my box and helps me learn new stuff. This is great. Love the pattern, the colors and textures of the prints. Kudos!

I love it! I've been loving that herringbone fabric, and wish I had some for my own stash; it's a great combination. And I love the idea of mimicking the print in your design! It looks great.

GORGEOUS!!!

Tinastitches

Thanks everyone! The fabric was lovely to work with. It's not a color combination I would have purchased for myself, but now I'm sad that I used every bit and there is nothing left for my stash.

I so love this! The design and how you used the fabric. It's just beautiful.
