Description

Making this for another friend due this spring with a baby girl!  I've been hoarding this line for the last year and a half to make my daughter a quilt, but she has her own opinions on things these days already and this fabric doesn't excite her the way i hoped it would, haha.  So, since it deserves to be loved by a little girl too i figured it would make a great quilt for my friends baby.  Plus, her nursery is pink and green, so the colors are just right!

I've made a couple single dresden plates before for pillows and things went smoothly, so i decided that i'd be crazy and make 8 or 9!  Took a bit longer to get them sewed up than i expected, so now they are done and i will applique them onto some Kona White another day! Break time:)

I'm still working on my final layout plan, i'm thinking a grid of 9 blocks, but with the center block missing the dresden and the baby's name and maybe some flowers embroidered?  (Machine of course!  i cannot hand embroider for anything, lol).

Fabric are Riley Blake Hoo's in the Forest line, light pink jewels by Lizzy House, and the red chevron is from The Sweetest Thing line by Riley Blake

Update: quilt completed 1/16/13!  I quilted the dresdens with a free motion floral design in the center circles and looped through all the petals. I straight line stitched around each dresden and  i also did flower designs in the four corners where they met the center and then did a random loop through the edges.  Fun and easy:)  My picture of the back doesn't show much but it actually looks as neat as the front because you can see all the flower shapes on the back.  Good thing I put Mallory's name on it, because my daughter told me "i luff it!" as she was dragging it around.  lol!  Measures 41x41"

I love how this fabric really makes the Dresden upbeat and modern. This is going to be such a darling baby quilt! I like your idea of making the center block the baby's name. Personalized baby quilts are priceless!

Those patterns sound adorable! You should definitely give them a go! Please share pics on this site when u do!
Dresdens aren't anything to be afraid of, they are basically just short straight seams, and then a lot of pressing:)

Aprilc I totally love everything about this quilt.

Aprilc

Quilt455 Thank you! Planning to gift it soon, before my daughter--who didn't seem to like the fabric when i wanted to use it for her--grows attatched, haha! She keeps saying "it's pink!" (her most favorite of all colors...)

Quilt455

I with her, pink is my most favorite of all colors too.

Capetowngirl

No problem! Darn comments with no editing ;-)

Yeah, I do think I'll have to put this block on my someday list. I especially love it with the sweet fabrics you used.
