Karen's Batik Table Mat by Nanakaren
I'm making a table mat for a neighbor who is moving into a new home soon. Color-wise, all I know is that her new countertops are black granite with a bit of jade. She also said she may add in red as a secondary color to her kitchen. Since I love batiks and there are so many choices as far as colors, I chose several fat quarters plus some yardage. One of the fat quarters is black with a bit of jade. I added a secondary color (cream) for contrast. There are also jade and red (not a bright red).
The technique I used is the DNP (disappearing nine patch) which I have used before with great success.
Today, I finished the machine top stitching in a cross hatch pattern.
Tomorrow, I plan to make the binding (black with little colored dots).
Will take a photo and share soon!
