Description

This is the first of the Fabric of the Year Series. I worked on this piece at the 2009 CQFA quilt retreat in January 2009.

Basics of the project:
2.5″x4.5″ rectangles
Cut one patch from each piece of fabric purchased in 2008.

One of the huge things I decided not long before leaving for the retreat was to change the direction of the project. I started out with the idea that the patches would be oriented in a rail-fence type setting. After playing around with that stack of blues, I was really inspired by the different blues next to each other. I played around with the unsewn patches I had. I decided to work on more of a blended / color wheel type look to the quilt. this is the direction I have taken with this series since this first quilt. I quilted this piece on the longarm myself. You can see information about that experience at: http://artquiltmaker.com/blog/2009/07/longarming-foty-2008/

True Thank you! I appreciate them as well. They help me remember the fabrics that I have. They also force me to use fabrics I buy right away.
