Description

This is the start of my entry for the Emerald Challenge - why Emerald? It is Pantone's colour of 2013 - and I love it! Last year was tangerine, and making myself use orange, which I hadn't used at all, was really good for me - it's now one's of my favourites! I don't need any help using green....

I've been planning on having a go at Lynne's ET Phone Home block ever since she released it last year, and this was finally my opportunity. I love foundation piecing and this block went together like a dream.

I plan on buying some more Kona Ash (I am crossing my fingers that it is Kona Ash) and making another unusual foundation pieced block, then using the two to create some kind of way of storing all of the blocks I make in this year's many BOM programmes,so I don't have to fold them - that's the plan any way!

25.02.2013: I have no idea what colour grey I used in the first block - but it isn't Medium Grey. I managed to make the second block with the leftovers from the first block - now to use my imagination to finish off the project and maybe invest in a Kona colour card! The second block is the Lone Star from Six White Horses: http://six-white-horses.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/lone-starburst.html

Gorgeous...wow you points amaze me...so jealous!

Oh! This is amazing and it also explains the distraction from finishing that beautiful batik quilt.

I love this block! So fun! The emerald and orange is really pretty together - love your fabric choices.

Your grey looks a little darker than Kona Ash in the pics, but it's hard to tell for sure. I have that Backyard Baby Orange and Kona Ash if you'd like a comparison pic.

Wow, you do beautiful work! This is beautiful. Love the color/print choices.

And this is why one should learn paper piecing to achieve such precision. Lovely colors and beautiful work!

twistedandloose

That is truly beautiful. Nice job.

Rebecca a comparisonpic would be wonderful - thank you - any suggestions what it might be if not Ash? I really must get a colour card....

Rebecca

Jenniesthreads I took a few pics today in the daylight. I'll share and tag you once I have them edited and posted.

Very nice!

These are beautiful!

Any chance the grey is Steel? It's photographing very similar to what the grey in my log cabin does and that's the color I'm using. Could be way off....but it was just a thought. ;) Good luck figuring it out!

Allpatchedup ooh - could be - that rings a bell! - thank you
