Description

This is a project that I planned to have for my Granddaughter's 2nd birthday. I am now hoping to get it down by her 4th. :)

I have posted 3 options that I have considered, but I may come up with more the longer it sits on my design wall.

It is posted here with more details - "What to do, Grace's Quilt"

Your thoughts are welcome.

February 17/2013 Update

Details on where I started to go with the quilt can be found at "Back to the Drawing Board."

I added pictures with pink and blue options. Sigh

April 2, 2013 Update:

This is a variation on one of the first ideas. I have done a lot of seam ripping. :)

June 2013

The details on how I got to this point are here. It took quite a while, but I am sure she will love it.

I love the square in a square...it's one of my favorite patterns, but I do tend to favor square patterns. ;)

True

I love the fabric...and I like the last design best...and the first one second best.

Terryt1955

I really like the 3rd option best! It shows the fabric nicely but isn't too busy.

Laweigel

Squares in a square is first choice, second choice is 3rd option...cute fabrics!

Maura

I like the square in a square, as well. This is going to be cute. I can't wait to see the results of whatever you pick!

Posyp

I also like the third option best. In which case I would suggest having a white background fabric and to get the squares on point you would be better off cutting the fabric into quarter square triangles so that the straight grain is running down the length of the quilt. (if I was doing it, that is)

Mrsquilt

I've read once that fabrics from a same collection are sometimes too similar in value. It might be fun to try to add a touch of brighter blue or pink. I'm not sure that it would work, i do like your fabric very much! I prefer the first option. I might consider adding white sashing.

Rebecca

I really like the 3rd option, or as Mrsquilt suggested I would consider adding some solids of different values in with the square in square blocks.

Janquilter

Lovely fabric choices, but I agree with others, adding in some solids would give it a little zing. I like the third option also.

Caribousmom

I love square in square, but I also think that third option is great. I wonder if you could audition some different colored solids and see what happens (my first thought is a cream, but I wonder about a very light yellow as well). Looking forward to seeing your final layout!

Mrsquilt

I really like the yellow background. It is very soft looking :)

Terryt1955

This was fun seeing the progression of this quilt. Love the yellow background and I love the way you broke up the pieced rectangles! Congrats on getting this done before she was 4!

True

Congrats and she will be quite thrilled I am sure!

Mrsquilt

Oh! It is lovely :)

Mrsquilt

The quilting adds a lot to it. Bravo!
