Description

I learned to make hexagons in a class at our local art gallery, taught by a wonderful woman who is a master hand quilter and quilt appraiser. I love having my box of supplies with me on long car trips. I just kept sewing them together and ended up with a good-sized piece of hexagon "fabric."

I used Elizabeth Hartman's pattern for the case and lined it with a pretty laminate fabric so I can use it as a make up case. It's fun to make something for myself once in awhile!

Allpatchedup Thanks! I'm glad I'll have this so I can remember the first hexies that I ever made.

Definitely Terrysim !! I made my first hexies into a makeup pouch for my daughter. Not quite the same as having them for myself, but it's a close second. (I'm allergic to handstitching so getting any done was a big accomplishment for me and they needed to stay close!!! rofl)

Carolmarie No, it wasn't difficult at all, but this laminate fabric was not thick at all. I've seen some that is heavier weight, like for making tablecloths. You do have to be careful to get it right the first time when sewing, though, because the needle leaves holes!
