Description

I was inspired to do this quilt after seeing Camille Roskelley's version in progress. I must have talked about it a lot because Paul bought the book for me. Once I had the book I was utterly daunted by it. Not helped by the sheer amount of things I'd promised myself I'd do for Christmas and our wedding. But over Christmas I came back to the idea, realised I could put to use some charm packs I'd been unable to resist but didn't have any ideas what to use them to make, and sufficiently long had passed from my first attempts at paper piecing to consider doing it again.

Here's my latest update on progress on my blog. I expect this quilt to take me more than a year to make in its entirety!

What cute fabric. With such small blocks, I think it would take most of us a year or so to complete. I have the book but still haven't made one block. I think the size is worrying me. I have it on my very long list to complete a farmer's wife quilt at some point. New projects and ideas keep getting in the way. Can't wait to see more blocks and it all put together

I love all the bright, cheerful colors!

Charwirfs

Sweet! Light and frothy, like strawberry shortcake on a summer day.

Capetowngirl

Lovely. This is definitely on my to do list.

oh wow smile you're all so lovely! I'm really buzzed to be working on it right now, don't know how long it will last, but I'll keep coming back! And I'll keep updating my blocks progress here!

Gorgeous. I love seeing others interpretation of this quilt. I still can't decide on what colours to use

Lots of patience to do all these small blocks but they are beautiful. You've picked great fabrics to use

Janquilter

Each one of these blocks is beautifully done!

HawkFan

I noticed you photographed many of them on point and the group shot. Are you going to put them together that way. It's amazing how much it changes it up when they're viewed that way.

HawkFan Hi! I am planning on putting the quilt together on point. I think you're totally right, the blocks just seem to have more impact that way round! I've a long way to go though :)

HawkFan

I really like them on point. Looks like you're making good progress.

Your blocks are so pretty. I don't even know how many there are in the Farmer's wife quilt...a lot I know. You have a great start going. They look really nice on point, too!

Ohalloranaoife

Rebeccajeffsmith Thanks Rebecca! There are 111 different blocks in the book, which make up a queen size quilt when used on point. I have 40 blocks made now so this is going to take me plenty of time! Glad you commented :)
