Description

This was a UFO I had set aside for several months until I could get the right color zipper- it got stashed at the bottom of the UFO pile and I rescued it the other day:) while cleaning up the sewing space.

It's a hexie  flower of Hello Pilgrim on natural linen. The back is two of the Hello Pilgrim Prints.
The linen is quilted with a meandering wavy line and the border is straight lines.

As for a pattern-I wouldn't even really call it that- it's just inspired by all the great zakka style quilts and pillows I've seen.

Thanks True Carolmarie & Laweigel - the Hello Pilgrim fabric just seems perfect for zakka anything:))))

ah well- I think it means "simple things"- but I've seen other translations say "little things". It refers to Japanese design and sewing. Design in zakka sewing is frequently very clean, minimal, sometimes patchwork, or applique, and often has a modern feel- lot's of negative space, neutral colors etc. There are a number of books out there on it but the most popular right now is Zakka Style by Rashida Coleman-Hale. I have a really nice one by Japanese author Suzuko Koseki called Playful Patchwork and it is so intricate- just about the most challenging book- not sure if it considered all zakka or perhaps a bit more than that. Most zakka projects are simple or are least striving to appear so. There is another book due out soon called Patchwork Please that looks promising as well.

Jenniffier Thanks so much- it is great fabric- there is still a fairly large selection available on etsy...just sayin' not temptin';))))

Quilt455 Thanks so much- glad I finally rescued it from the UFO pile;)

Slicksister Many Thanks!

Chrissybugs Thanks!- the border just seemed right, since I was making it up as I went along- too much and the poor flower would have looked overwhelmed;))))
