Description

Various mug rugs for friends...

Updated 10-12-13 I have a dear 82 year old friend who was recently diagnosed with leukemia and given a very poor prognosis.  I wanted to make some thing to take to him (and his wife) so thought I would make some wonderful Almond Poppy Seed Bread I have a recipe for as well as a couple of mug rugs.  Will also make a lined duffle bag to use as a gift bag.

Butterfly one is made with fabric from Tom Holtz's Eclectic Elements Collection

Update 6-13-14  My mom is visiting from Michigan and wanted a gift to take back for a friend so she "shopped" in my stash and I made a mug rug for her.

I really like this one. Did you use a template for the wedge shape or a special ruler? I've never dealt with anything remotely similar to a triangle, can you tell?

Pinned!

Terryt1955 Thank you this is an older one but since we now have database and I found the fabrics I updated it! So fun:-) I used the dresden ruler to cut out shapes...you can also find template on line. I went to find the tutorial to post for you but it is gone:-( I do have it all written out if you want it I can send. It is easy and I have done several and loved them all...and all kinds of ways it can be quilted which changes look somewhat.

Love this one, Colors are my favorite. My sewing room is done in green and pink

Thanks True . I have the dresden template so I can figure it out from there. It's just hard to gauge how big things are when looking at the pictures. Yours is already Pinned on my mug rug board!

Thank you Quilt455 and Terryt1955 I laid the 5 inch line of ruler at edge of fabric to cut out for this size...could do larger or smaller as wish.

Carolmarie LOL no you aren't I just added to a very old project of starting a new one! Thank you I think that fabric is so darn cute:-)

I love Eclectic Elements and am interested to see how you used yours. I'm still thinking (and it's such hard work LOL). Love these mug rugs

HawkFan Thank you and while I love this fabric it was very hard to figure out how to use it even something so small! And it goes with almost nothing else in my stash so made it even harder. I am not sure what else I will do with it...thinking may make a pillow from it as colors go well in my den.

HawkFan

I guess I'm not the only one coming up with ways to use it then. I'll have to study it more...

Mymble

Love them - the little bird is too cute and love how you used the Tim Holtz fabric!

Gorgeous- absolutely love the coral, lemon yellow and grey combo- it is stunning! I doubt I could put a cup of coffee on this- would just go on the wall!
