Description

March 2013:   Granny Square Block
Terrysim is Queen for March & she picked this block which I absolutely love!!  It has so many options when you play with color, fabric, placement, etc.  I have always wanted to make this block and I plan to start making blocks of my own.  I will try to give up a block to send to Terrysim this month - LOL!!

03/15/13 - mailed  block to Terrysim

April 2013:     Pinwheel with Log CabinRobynn is Queen of April & she put together a block using 2 of her favorite blocks - the pinwheel and the log cabin.  She combined 2 tutorials for the 2 different block components.   The tutorial for the pinwheel portion can be found here using one pinwheel block and the log cabin tutorial here using 1 1/2 in strips.  The pinwheel could be any bright colors, but she requested the log cabin portion have colors of the beach using blues, purples, aqua, and turquoise. She wanted the quilt to remind her of the ocean. Final block size is10.5" square.03/31/13 - complete April Block.  This block was SEW FUN!

May 2013:  Hashtag Block
+Slicksister is Queen of May and she asked for the Hashtag block in small red & white print - no other colors.
This block is 10.5 x 10.5.  I love red & white quilts and this block is so cool!
04/17/13 - completed 2 blocks and plan to mail 04/18/13

July  2013 Great Granny Square Block
Terryt1955 is Queen and asked for the Great Granny Square Block with a Retro/Vintage feel.
Here is a link to Bee In My Bonnet’s Tutorial.

August  2013 Improv Wonky Log CabinMissriain is Queen for August and asked for a Improv Wonky Log Cabin Block made with all solids.

My block is not square at all but she is requesting we not trim the block so she can square them as she wishes.  This is my first time to use all solids.  I love it!!

September  2013 Churn DashThis month's queen is Nexxus831.  She is asking for the Churn Dash Block.  She's requesting blocks in Red/White and true white for her background/center - or white on white.  I expect this to be a real Beauty - Now I want a Red/White quilt!!  :)Tutorial:  http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2008/01/quilt-long-week-9.html

Ocotober 2013 Scrappy String Star
+Capetowngirl asked for a scrappy String Star Block using bright vivid colors or selvages and Kona white for the stars.  The blocks are made by sewing fabric strings to a paper base.

November  2013 Queen Jonellk
Block:  Ohio Star
Tutorial:  You can find a tutorial HERE
Colors:  Bright scraps....using all one color or multiple, prints or solids, our choice with black as the background color.
This was fast, easy, and fun!  Love the black background!!  (my first block with black background)

December  2013 King Curt
Block:  Variation of Churn Dash
Tutorial:  You can find a tutorial for the block HERE.
Colors:  Blues or Greens, choose either color scheme with 3 fabrics for each block.
My first attempt was a horrible MISTAKE....I will send it just in case he wants it ....and he can throw it away!!  :)  My 2nd block I did in blues - the light blue corners are showing up more white in picture.  I am much more pleased with the contrast on it.

January 2014 Queen Drnic2c
Block:  Curved Log Cabin
Tutorial:  You can find a tutorial in the forum for January.
Colors:  REquested Red & White (including tonal, low volume true white or light gray fabrics).  Requested we not use cream colored fabrics.

February 2014 Queen Kruppcake
Block:  Scrappy String Block
Colors:  Chose a scrappy string block. Wanted Hive to start with four 6.5" blocks, which will result in a 12.5" block when they're sewn together. Requested white for the center strip & the rest as scrappy as you please.
I expect this to look great and be a favorite quilt!!
