Description

1) MARCH: Granny square!!

Made for Terryism for Hive #4's March block!

First time trying this block, and I really enjoyed it. My instinct, forever and always, is to use red, but I thought I'd try a new color combo.

2) APRIL: Pinwheel plus log cabin with ocean-y colors for Robynn. Loved the way she designed her own block, and the blues were really fun to work with.

3) MAY: Hashtag/pound sign blocks for Sylvia. Loved working with red and white (red is my favorite color!).

4) JUNE: Pinwheel blocks for Cinda. It was so fun getting to choose which blocks to make, and I loved sorting through my scraps and stash for the fabrics. I think I'm starting to like pinwheels more and more. I had a great time with these.

5) JULY: Great granny blocks for Terry. I loved making these, especially with Terry's retro/vintage inspiration. I'm a little afraid the text fabric on the second block might be too low contrast with the white sashing, but I'm hoping when Terry puts them all together it'll work.

6) SEPTEMBER: Red and white churn dash blocks for Nexxus. I love the clean lines of this block, and since red is my favorite color, I was all over it. Now that I've had a day to think about it, the red text fabric might be too light for what Nexxus is going for, but hopefully she'll be able to use both blocks. :)

7) OCTOBER: Scrappy string star for Candice. I've never made a string quilt, and now I'm dying to!! So, so fun, if challenging with all the bias edges. Starch, you are my friend. :)

8) NOVEMBER: Scrappy bright ohio star for Jo, with a black background. Ohio stars are so simple with such high impact. Love! It's possible another one is halfway done...

9) DECEMBER: Blue or Green modified Churn Dashes for Curt. Love this block, will definitely be making it again.

10) JANUARY: Curved log cabin for Nicole. Sigh, red and white quilts are so beautiful. I loved working with some of my red scraps! Excited to see how this one turns out.

True

This is a great looking block!

Sewbusy64

Love the colors you used!! I think contrast makes the block really "pop"!!

Missriain

Thanks guys! smile

Capetowngirl

Looks Lovely

Kruppcake

All your points line up so nicely. Great colors too.

Curt

I love the bold colors I wish i had gone bold.

True

Curt the combo of some softer and others more bold will enhance the quilt IMHO!

Missriain

Exactly what True said!!

And Kruppcake, I ended up pressing my seams to the sideinstead of open so that I could nest the seams. Otherwise they'd be all over the place.

Silsbee

This is so pretty - love the little 'surprise' patches! :)

Capetowngirl

Both very pretty April blocks. And your pin wheel looks okay to me

Sewbusy64

April blocks look awesome. your pinwheels turned out great and the colors pop

Terryt1955

Your April blocks are beautiful. A great mix of fabrics and pinwheels are such a pop of surprise.

Robynn

Your blocks are beautiful. I love the colors. You did a great job with the pinwheels, they are a little challenging all the points. I can't wait to see them all together too. So exciting.

Missriain

Thanks guys!!

Your pinwheels are so great! Great job on the points. I really love that prism-like fabric with the pink HSTs. It seems to make the pinwheel sparkle!

Missriain

Sewbusy64 Hooray!! So happy you like them.

Thanks everyone! You guys always say the sweetest things.

Missrain great blocks, love the bright colors. I may steal your idea of making 2 blocks instead of one.

Terryt1955

Just saw the June blocks and they are great! I hadn't seen your may ones until now and love those as well! I don't know how you found the time with finals and all.....

Capetowngirl

Both July blocks are gorgeous. Particularly love the first one and the print fabric.

Terryt1955

Yoo can never go wrong with red and your September blocks prove it! I think the text print one shows up against the white just fine, don't worry!
