Description

I made this for someone who plans to use it as a diaper bag.  I added several pockets inside and out, and rearranged the front to accomodate adding two bottle pockets on the sides.  I also added a small zipper on the side to make getting into the bag easier.  I used a canvas-type fabric in place of batting.  In retrospect, the large black clasp in the front was a little large and bulky for it's location, but I do think it looks cool!

That's great! It looks so useful. I'd love to hear a little more about how it's three-in-one (can you take pieces off?) and about how you made it - did you use a pattern or just design from scratch?

Anyway, as someone who occasionally makes bags, I appreciate all of the little details of how nicely you made this one.

an amazing bag! I am amazed at your bag sewing and again those cute little squirrel friends!

It is a pattern from Lisa Lam's book "A Bag For All Reasons". The "3-in-1" refers to the adjustable strap that detaches and can be used in traditional backpack fashion, as a shoulder strap, or you can take it off and use the grab handle at the top. There is actually a 4th way to attach it to carry it so the strap goes diagonally across the chest. It's a pretty cool pattern.
