Description

March 17, 2013: I've decided I need a "project" where I can post photos of meetups I have with my Threadbias friends. Yesterday I was so excited to finally meet Jan (+janquilter ). We decided to meet at the Sewing Room in Redding as she was passing through Redding on her way back to Washington. And, as luck would have it, Connie (+conniharns ) and Cathie (+quilt455 ) were taking a class there!

August 2-4, 2013: I was so happy to have Terry (+terryt1955 ) to my house for a weekend visit. She arrived on a Friday and of course we shopped the Redding and Palo Cedro quilt stores with +Conniharns . On Saturday +Conniharns and +quilt455 joined me and Terry at my house for a full day of sewing. I got to play teacher and we made pillows with hidden zippers. The only downside to the whole weekend was that a skunk decided to spray through our screen door into my husband and my bedroom on Friday morning at dawn. Luckily, the sewing room which serves as the guest room was not impacted...and Terry has a great sense of humor. With fans running and lots of fresh air, we lived with it pretty well! Next time (I promise, Terry) NO SKUNKS! Conni arrived at my house Saturday in quite the outfit - can you tell she is the clown of the group (not to mention a real fashion maven!).

March 14-16, 2014: Here we go again!!!! Terry (+terryt1955 ) arrived on Friday and met me and Conni (+Conniharns ) in Chico to shop hop (great sale at Honey Run Quiltters where we stayed for hours entertaining the shop person). Saturday was a sew day at my house with Conni, Terry and Cathie (+quilt455 ). Of course, crazy Conni arrived dressed to the nines! We're sewing into the night after a pot luck dinner. I love my quilting buddies!!!

What a great feeling it must be to actually meet some of our quilting addicts in person. Thanks for the picture.

Caribousmom

Seshlaman It is so fun to meet people in person!
Conniharns I LOVE that table runner!!!
Carolmarie you're welcome!

Quilt455

Gee, didn't see this earlier. Just loved meeting Jan. Thanks Miss Wendy for "organizing" meeting and sharing the picture, Loved taking the class with Conni but boy, this was the most frustrating project I have ever done., Grrrr but finally got it done. Will post a picture.

Caribousmom

Quilt455 Well, Jan actually initiated this whole meeting :) I just "suggested" The Sewing Room so she could see everyone! Going over to look at your runner!

Janquilter

These meet-ups are fun and they can happen anywhere if people are interested. I am sure that there are Threadbias members in close proximity to each other that don't even know. I was just pleased to be a part of this one!

Caribousmom

Janquilter me too :)

Quilt455

me toooooooooooo

Gail

Thanks for sharing... so sweet to meet in person!

Caribousmom

Gail Yup! :)

Conniharns

Me three!!!! Haha

True

OMG I love the pictures...and I think Conni could teach me a few things about fashion;-). It looks like such fun and pillow! Awesome.

Laweigel

Oh, how fun!!!! Looked like such a quilty-blast!

Caribousmom

Laweigel and True We had SO much fun! Lots of laughs :)

Conniharns

OMG...I think I outdid myself!!! Great color tho....got to admit that orange is my color!!!! We had so much fun with Terryt1955. She is a hoot...with our hoot of a teacher Wendy and our hoot of language expert Quilt455... It was laughs non stop..love these guys. Huge hugs to Caribousmom who is always ready to LEARN us with any question we have!! :)

Terryt1955

Oh seeing these pictures brings back tears to my eyes! My face hurt from laughing so much. What a TREAT to meet these gals in person and to be Wendy's house guest for the weekend. What person invites a complete stranger to her house for a whole weekend, right? It's a good thing I live 4 hours away or she'd have me showing up on her porch on a very regular basis! It was truly the highlight of my summer.

Slicksister

Oh man. I would love to join/meet you some day. Looks like soo much fun. I live in Sonoma county

Conniharns

Hey Slicksister....we are only a few hrs away from you!! Come on up! Amazing to find out some of the threaders live so close! We did have so much fun with Terryt1955. Good times~~

True

Terryt1955 LOL and just wait until I fly in and show up on her porch...and now I know what kind of clothes to bring thanks to Conniharns !!

Conniharns

Oh True...you are cracking me up!! I am always glad to help with those fashion questions...you just ask away!! We look forward to meeting you. Your name came up often in our fun filled wk end!. Oh and thanks so much for the fashion compliments!!!

Terryt1955

Sounds like Caribousmom and +Connniharns needs to open a B&B! I'll pick up True at the airport and we'll be in by noon!

Terryt1955

Conniharns it's too early in the morning to see if I've typed 2 or 3 n's!

Rebeccajeffsmith

So this is just a preview of what a quilt retreat would look like, right?? I can't wait!! Lol

Caribousmom

Slicksister Would love to meet you someday! We go to the Bay area from time to time...so the next time we're in your area, I'll let you know (Maybe you can show me some of the good quilting stores around you? I haven't shopped much there!)

True You, my friend, need to start planning your trip (and in the meantime, I'm coming to Maine!!!)

Conniharns No one says fashion quite like you! LOL!

Terryt1955 You are welcome at my house any time...seriously, it was a great weekend.

Rebeccajeffsmith Ha ha ha - yes, this is exactly what a quilt retreat looks like!!! LOL

True

Rebeccajeffsmith Yes with just more of us!!! We need a lodge in the mountains;-)

True

Conniharns Believe me I need help as I cannot even match socks very well;-). And whatever was said about me is all rumors I am not that bad honest;-). And Terryt1955 and I will be zooming in!

Terryt1955

Caribousmom Knock, Knock!

True

Caribousmom I am so excited to meet you all and since it will be both here and there who could ask for more!

Caribousmom
Terryt1955

I am so slow at times! When is Wendy going to Maine?! ( True ). This Project page truly will document our traveling ambassador!

True

Terryt1955 LOL next year late spring!! she hopes...

Quilt455

Conniharns Terryt1955 Caribousmom Okay Ladies, I didn't check in for one day and them this morning saw all these great post. I am still smiling when I think of your day together. Terry, you are ACTUALLY like I thought you would be: warm, and so funny. I was such a great pleasure to be able to spend time with you. Conni, I wish I could carry you in my pocket because you always find the Humor for me. But we do have to talk about you fashion statement! Wendy, I do not know anyone else who would let 2 people invade her beautiful house with open arms the way you have for Conni and I. Thanks ladies for the sharing of knowledge but more importantly for the laughs. You all are the best.
PS, I look like a "old school teacher" in the picture of the 4 of us. hehehehe
True: you were in our thoughts and wishing you were there with us.
Hugs to you all.

Slicksister

I would TOTALLY drive up there. This Tues I will be driving right through there. I am meeting my daughter in law at the halfway point - Roseburg, OR - to drop my grand girlies off. They are visiting without their parents. Won't have time to stop on the way up or back but perhaps sometime soon. That would be fun.

Quilt455

Slicksister How fun would that be. Let us know when your going to be in the area again.

Conniharns

Carolmrie, Actually we are all short and petite and beautiful...we put Wendy on a stool!!!!

Conniharns

Hahahah..that is so funny!! I wish I were 5'9".... Then I wouldn't be so chubby!! I am 5'6"... I think Wendy is about 5'8" or so.. Now Terryt...she is the real midget!! Cathie is tall also!!

Slicksister

There's a really cool house in Bodega Bay we could rent for a quilt retreat. Just sayin.....

Caribousmom

Carolmarie LOL - well, we are not all short and petite (well, maybe Terry is). Yes, I'm 5'8" and I think Cathie is about the same height...you'd not be the odd man out here :)

Slicksister Ooooooh - how fun would that be?

Conniharns

Carolmarie...that's funny!!! Well good then....we will embrace what we have!!......I still think another inch would help....alittle!!!!

Slicksister

http://bodegabayandbeyond.com/rental_homes/detail/?q=5

I have friends who have used this house for scrapbooking. No reason it wouldn't work for sewing. They just brought in tables. They usually have about 14 ladies.

Caribousmom

Slicksister Cool house - looks like there is a queen size sofa bed as well as the five bedrooms - so depending on whether or not people wanted to share a bed (maybe not entirely comfortable for people just meeting for the first time!!!), at least 6 people. I know that I can't do anything like this right now...but we'll keep it as a possibility down the road :) Thanks for the link!

True

Slicksister OMG that is gorgeous...I know I could find some thing in Maine for all of us but that is a long way for the rest of you;-)

Skynme

Super jealous!! You ladies look like you are having a blast. Its so great that you gals can all get together.

Quilterinmotion

True , I know I'm never going to see these California girls but I sure would like to meet up with YOU! We really need to try to make that happen this summer. What do you think?

True

Quilterinmotion that would be awesome and so much fun!! And I am so going to meet these Wild West gals some day...may not have my machine with me but I am going anyway;-). Looks like an awesomely fun day!!

Conniharns

Skynme We do have a lot of fun :)
Quilterinmotion Who knows, your travels may take you to California some day!
True Oh baby - you are SO coming out here some day...and Cathie has an extra machine you can use :)

Caribousmom

Okay - that was me above :) I forgot to log Conni out :)

True

Caribousmom LOL. So see I am all set!!

Readerowl

umm, lets see: middle of the second week of April I'll be driving up the California I5, but it will be a long day and I doubt I'll get to stop anywhere beyond the necessary. I can be thinking of people who are not so far away from my route, and about another time when I might have more time.

Quilt455

I personally think that Wendy needs to reconsider who she allows in her house. hehehe It was such a great day. Got some sewing done but more laughing and playing then anything else. This time Conni and I stayed for dinner and conversation afterwards....it was all just great. Once again, thank you Wendy for opening you home to us and always making us feel so welcome. You and Kip are the best.

Conniharns

Skynme True Ya we had sooo much fun this wk end. Turbo, Terry and I shopped in Chico on Friday. That was crazy fun.. The shops told us they loved us because we were so fun!!! Go figure. Then today with Cathie we spent a most enjoyable day sewing at Wendy's. Believe it or not we actually get a lot accomplished even with all the craziness going on!! It's just plain good for the soul!!

HawkFan

So jealous!! :)

Conniharns

Carolmarie it was a fun day and we did partake of the grape a little!!! But we are actually nuts without the wine!! It is a unique experience and we have such a great time!

Caribousmom

Readerowl Karen - how far up 5 are you driving? Will you be passing through Redding? If so and you have ANY time at all to stop - even if just for a cup of coffee, let us know! We could meet up with you perhaps and I would LOVE to meet you in person (plus there is a shop in Redding I think you might love :) )
Carolmarie We do have a lot of fun, Carol!! Can you imagine a quilt retreat some day? I can!
Quilt455 Thanks, honey :) It is so much fun for me too :)
HawkFan Would have been even more fun if you were here, too, Audrey!
Conniharns LOL.

HawkFan

With my oldest planning to be in the Bay Area for the foreseeable future, there may come a day...

Caribousmom

HawkFan Yay!!!!!

Terryt1955

Whew! I just was able to get on and catch up on the comments. What a weekend and you should have seen Wendy's dog react when she saw Conni coming up to the porch. I equate it to the terror a 2 year old feels when they see those creepy clowns!
Another memorable weekend at Wendy & Kip's B&B. So much fun sewing all day with the 3 of those kooks. My kids think I've joined a cult. I come back all high on life and exhausted from laughing so much. Well if that's a cult that's excepting people, I want to join!
HawkFan , you will definitely be able to get up there. I'll shuttle you up along with True when we get he on a plane out here. It's just a matter of coordinating the dates! God, what is Wendy & Kip getting themselves in to!

Terryt1955

Conniharns and Quilt455 you guys are the greatest! SO much fun getting to spend the weekend with you. And even if there wasn't wine we still would have peed our pants!
Wendy will be bringing into work the lemon curd you guys were supposed to bring home.

Conniharns

Terryt1955 Back at ya Terry! Was so nice to see you again. What a blast we had! My stomach hurts from laughing sooooo much. Miss u already and can't wait for next time. Remember as Lawrence Welk would say"Keep a song in your heart" and think of me!!!!

Quilt455

Terryt1955 It is always so great to see you! Thank you for the Lemon curd, I am sitting here thinking about going home for lunch and eating some....it was wonderful. Loved the quilt you were working on. Did you get more done?

Quilt455

Conniharns You are so strange!!!!

HawkFan

Caribousmom Terryt1955 Conniharns Quilt455 You know the rest of us expect to see projects posted here on TB of what you did so we can be even more jealous ;)

Quilt455

Terryt1955 I had some of you Lemon curd and I am hiding it from my husband. All mine. I is just so good. Thank you so much

True

Quilt455 Terryt1955 I want some of this lemon curd you speak of...

Quilt455

True It is soooooooooooooooo good!!!! I will be thinking of you when I have some in the morning.

True

Quilt455 LOL well a lot of good that will do me!!! ;-)

HawkFan

Quilt455 True Mary, they just keep rubbing it in don't they... tongue

Terryt1955

Quilt455 True HawkFan You are all invited to come to my house for a proper tea party complete with scones and lemon curd. I'll even iron the linens and buy lose tea!

So Cathie, you stop rubbing it in will you!

Conniharns

Hey....can I come to the tea party and serenade? You know how you love that Terry!!!

Quilt455

Okay, I won't say how wonderful the Lemon Curd is.........

True

Quilt455 Conniharns HawkFan Terryt1955 so when would you like us...I will pick Audrey up on the way through...you come here and it will be lobster! ;-)

True

HawkFan Quilt455 that makes Audrey and me feel much better... you "not" mentioning how absolutely marvelous the lemon curd is... ;-)

Quilt455

True You and Audrey can come anytime, I know that Wendy's front door to her B&B is wide open for you two. Seriously, I really hope you two are going to be able to get together when Wendy makes her trip back east. Kindred Spirits should really meet in person. Oh ya, I won't mention was a wonderful tasting Lemon curd Terry made for us over the weekend.

True

Quilt455 LOL!! Wendy and I will meet...promise! But we may not have any lemon curd;-)

Terryt1955

Conniharns Well of course girl! I want you to practice Michael Buble okay?! And yes I do think of you every time I make a word association with a particular fitting song. The only difference is I just think it in my head and you actually sing it!

Terryt1955

True When Wendy gets to visit you you can rub it in all you want and I will be SO envious. Not only does she get to play with you but she gets lobster too?! That definitely trumps lemon flippin curd!

Caribousmom

Terryt1955 oh no lobster for me (any more) as I am fatally allergic to it now (which makes me sad because it used to be my favorite food EVER)...but we will still have a great time :)

HawkFan

Wendy - how interesting - I'm allergic to all shellfish although some worse than others. I've always had my allergy though so I don't miss what I never had.

brodeusebressane

I'm jealous and I feel a distaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaance ! There won't be many French quilters here on Threadbias now, would there ?! sigh

Terryt1955

Caribousmom How could I have forgotten that given we just talked about it over the weekend? Talk about being dense.I guess at that point I was just so weak from buying fabric I wasn't in my right mind. (Still rubbing it in aren't I?)

Terryt1955
True

HawkFan Caribousmom Terryt1955 LOL I promise not to kill off Wendy (truth is I seldom have lobster at home as hate how it smells up whole house:-) So Terry are you saying you ALSO had an awesome shopping spree on top of lemon curd and great company wink

Caribousmom

HawkFan I didn't become allergic until age 40 - so weird. And it is to all shellfish as well which still bums me out, but unless I want to die, I stay away from it!
brodeusebressane Oh, I am sorry - I don't know how many threaders are from France...but I would be there might be some!
Terryt1955 Weak from shopping - yes, that is a great excuse! LOL. Well, you did WIN didn't you? I think you spend about a 1/3rd more than me and at least 1/2 again more than Conni.
True We are rubbing it in, aren't we? Well, pretty soon you and I can rub it in :) And thanks for not killing me :)

Caribousmom

brodeusebressane well, that should have said "I would THINK there might be some"

HawkFan

My grandmother is also allergic and she lives in Hawaii so she's surrounded by shellfish. She twice gave in to temptation and had some shrimp. After twice taking her to the ER, Grandpa said "if you do that again, I'm not taking you to the ER". As far as I know, she hasn't done it any more.

Caribousmom

HawkFan LOL recognizing our actions may impact our mortality is a strong motivator :)

Quilterinmotion

True , I make lemon curd so when we get together, I'll be sure to bring you some!! It's incredibly easy to make. Everyone come to New England and I'll supply the ingredients for everyone to learn to make lemon curd!!

Some day I might get to California again; nothing planned in the near future but then again, plans are just plans and easy to change. I'll hope for a plan to get to California as I'd love to see these gals all together!

True

Quilterinmotion sounds like a plan hear that Quilt455 ??

Terryt1955

Quilterinmotion Yes it is incredibly easy with just 4 ingredients but it's the 30 minutes of constant stirring that kills me. I get so sidetracked that I want to wander off but if you do the egg curdles. YUCK! So easy for a person that isn't ADHD!!

Terryt1955

True I did win the overall prize of buying the most fabric. I just couldn't resist the Downton Abby in the purple/gray colorway. Gee what a surprise huh?
And then I found the cutest boy fabric to make another quilt for Emmett that has outgrown the first quilt I made him. It was so much fun shopping with Wendy and having her add her choices to my pile.
That poor woman at the shop "said" she loved us and "made her day" but I think she had carpal tunnel by the time we all left. I do believe they locked the door after we left making sure we wouldn't come back for more.

Quilt455

True I am on my way!!!!

True

Terryt1955 LOL I love that downtown Abby fabric very pretty. So sounds like you did good!

Quilterinmotion

Terryt1955 , I went to a Trunk Show that Andover Fabrics did in Mississippi in January. High tea and all the Downton Abbey fabrics. They are gorgeous fabrics. You will love working with them, I'm sure.

Terryt1955

Quilterinmotion What a great idea to combine a Trunk Show with a High Tea. That is pure genius! How cool that you were able to attend too. Lucky duck!

Quilterinmotion

Terryt1955 . Right place at the right time, Terry. I just happened to go to the quilt shop the Friday before and heard her talking about it to another customer so I asked questions and there was still room to sign up. Took two friends and one of them won the grand door prize....a FQ of every single fabric in the line!!!! And she wasn't even a DA fan!!!! So unfair, right? Since then, she has watched the four seasons of the show but before that she had not seen DA.
