Description

While working on the Marcelle Medallion quilt, I realized I loved the look of rows of flying geese lined up.  It has been on my mind since then, although I don't really have a reason to make one at the moment, and I have other quilts in line to get finished.  So I thought I'd play with the Quilt Design Tool to at least get my fix of the geese quilt I've been thinking of.  I hope to actually make it one day!  Although now that I've realized it would take 216 geese, I may tinker with the sizing of the geese.

Love it and don't you just love design tool it does help with those needed "fixes" as well as give us a place to store our ideas!

Kristananne

True Yes, exactly! I love that I get that idea out of my head. I usually work up a sketch (either on paper or in Photoshop) for quilt ideas when I can't get started on the project, but the QDT is so much better because I can actually see it with the fabrics in my stash! And the fabric requirements feature blows my mind!

Love the look - for me personally I would paper piece the rows of geese (love those perfect point that I get with foundation piecing).

I hope you do decide to make it. It's gorgeous!!

Amanda

Oh, I love this use of flying geese all in a row! I hope you make it!

Flying geese are my favourite. I love the colours you've chosen with the pop of the aqua. Can't wait to see it actually made wink

Sbbquilter I think I'm going to chain piece. I made 64 geese this way for the Marcelle Medallion and it went by surprisingly fast. My points all came out nicely as well. To keep my points nice, I make sure to piece with the point side on top so I can see the seams. That way I can be sure not to cut off the point. I like the look of paper piecing, but it takes me a very long time.

Joke Amanda nathessey Thanks! I really want to make it. I may start cutting here and there, but probably won't really start piecing until late May unfortunately! I may make some here and there, but I have lots going on in the next couple of months.
